Si toi vouloir apprendre français, toi devoir faire beaucoup efforts. :D

De rien -> it's nothing or you're welcome.
Mon -> My.
Gars -> Guy (or in this case: mate ).

De rien, mon gars -> You're welcome, mate.

It's my fault, I used this expression on purpose to see if you'd understand.

EDIT: Wow, ten pages already ? 8)

Tom2681 wrote:Other drawback: The music by Kenji Kawai (Ghost in The Shell) is a complete disaster, handicapping the movie in its most emotional scenes.
This synthetic music doesn't give any texture to the pictures, and just underlines the emotions that you can already feel without the music.
Another reason to mourn James Wong, who scored most of Tsui's earlier works.
.
Ok. Most of the time Kawai is excellent. Witness any of his collaborations with Mamoru Oshii (Eg GitS, Patlabor 1&2). "Making of Cyborg" (GitS main theme) is one of the best compositions I've ever heard for a film IMO.

Most of the time Kawai is excellent.
No-one is saying he isn't, but can he actually compose for a swordplay film ? That's the real question IMO.

Yep.
I really feel sorry for you guys, stuck with "Ghosting-à-gogo" Tartan, "One step forward / two steps back" HKL , "VHS-like" Eastern Heroes, "snip-snip" BBFC...
It's on days like these that I realize how lucky we (french viewers) are:
HK Vidéo / Wild Side / Asian Star / Asian Side / CTV...

:D

 - One day people will learn there is no such word as NITE!

Tom the Tartan Phone could have ghosting because of NTSC to PAL right? Well get the Tartan R1 then!

I wouldn't put Eastern Heroes in the same sentence as Tartan or HKL, both of which I'm happy with TBH (most of the time$). Do Eastern Heroes still release DVDs?

p.s - CTV release DVDs in the UK too!

News:

Tsui Hark's future:

It is unknown whether Tsui will direct the 6 sequels to Seven Swords himself.
That will depend mainly on boxoffice results.
Tsui would like to direct one day A Journey To The West (he's been working on a screenplay for some time ).

And he's still planning to direct a film about Brigitte Lin's life, in which Cecilia Cheung would play the young Brigitte Lin Ching-Hsia.

From: Monkeypeaches
Sounds cool so far. :D

Would Brigitte be persuaded to come out of retirement to play the older version of herself? :)

Great title for a film.

They're making SIX sequels to this film???

I hate it when sequels/prequels are created just to cash in.

I wasn't aware she was dead yet?

I believe there's more than enough material in the novels to make 7 films.
-film about Brigitte Lin's life
-I wasn't aware she was dead yet?
Does she need to be dead to have a film that's about her life ? :D

Probably true but SEVEN films is VERY OTT.

I doubt they can sustain the quality for seven films, no way.
Tom2681 wrote:Does she need to be dead to have a film that's about her life ? :D
Yes IMO it helps.

Not for sure as Mann's Ali is very good but they're better as we can remember the person we've lost.
