It's on the Korean and Taiwanese DVDs but those probably aren't perfect examples.

So Dragon Dynasty are actively buying the UK rights to films? If so it's weird they've yet to release any in the UK.

Brad, as the commentary on the DD is new I will double dip :) The subtitles on the IVL are kind of annoying (but I'm used to them).
Well at the end of the day its just a trailer, but its good to have alongside a newly created trailer.

For me, at the end of the day it will be Mandarin Mono, likely have decent English subs and above all be Anamorphic ;)

In Germany, Holland etc, they've had full access to everything

I'm not sure if the Bey commentary did get ported out of HK but feel free to correct me!
Here in Holland, only about 20 Shaws have been released on DVD, and most of those werent interesting.

Of course but does it matter whether I upgrade or double dip or not? I'd still get it, just watch the film with the DD and then if I wanted the Bey/Cheng Pei Pei comm watch the IVL.

I'd upgrade for the 16:9 and the MONO.

If the extras are good.... bonus.

Shaw films were filmed in the old Eastmancolour (I think that's the process - some techtype will correct me no doubt) and naturally had strong, vibrant colours.

Weird thing is: that's only happened to the Fortune Star titles DD distributed. I'm not sure if they do anything to the Shaws

Nope, from what I've seen, the DD Shaws have the same color scheme/balance as the IVLs, so they seem untouched. I never understood the "pinky" issue with the FS transfers though and why only those films had that problem. Weren't their last batch of FS transfer finally proper though? (Righting Wrongs, Millionaire's Express, etc)

Hmm, I wonder if the pinkified FS titles DD churned out where transfers White had prepared back when he was still with HKL?

That's an interesting idea. I didn't realise White took masters with him.

To my eyes, the pinkiying at HKL came with the 3 titles released in Jan 2006 - Fist Of Fury, Knockabout, and Wheels On Meals - the last three titles which bear the handiwork of the Brian White team

You're putting words in my mouth again! :D
Again I just want to clarify, I am not saying White did take masters/remasters with him, I'm just speculating as to whether he may have or not, and if he did maybe that's why we saw those early DD releases with the HKL style "lobster effect".

Yeah it does make you wonder doesn't it? Guess we'll have to wait and see if the problem crops up in any of their future releases.

I do wonder if its someone at FS doing it, since it's really only the FS transfers affected. But it could be the Shaw contract does not permit them to do any tinkering - Celestial is rather touchy about what goes on the DVDs of their films!

I think The Big Boss PE is also pink. I don't tend to mind the pink look so don't pay much attention to it, although would be happier if they didn't do it.

The Big Boss doesn't look pinky to me. It compares favourably (visually at least) with the IVL

Wasn't Hapikido supposed to be out LAST October? Seems like Dragon Dynasty has been spending more time on newer films rather than the classics that started them out so strong. Also, any other Shaws coming out with Come Drink With Me (like last year's 4 film batch), or is that it for now?

I thought Heroes Of The East was supposed to come out alongside Come Drink WIth Me

And this year's schedule is what they had LAST year's schedule down as!

Call me optermistic but it would be nice if this delays was to address some quality control issues...

Thanks Beat.

The DD looks excellent. I'd now pick up the BD though. What is that capture comparison between the DD and Deltamac supposed to show us? :D
