I think HK Cinema is loosing its appeal because many of its main representatives, Jackie Chan, John Woo, are not making the effort

In 98, Jackie had a reputation amongst film goers for being cooler than ice. But after 2002, the reputation began to wear off, with his mild family films and son

DVD wise, Weinstein buggers up a lot of good distribution. A lot of the DVDs get scuppered by poor quality control from the likes of Celestial, Fortune Star, etc. The films remain great but it becomes kind of frustrating seeing wasted opportunity after wasted opportunirty...

Japanese films! Love em! Spent £25 on an unsubtitled King Kong Vs Godzilla with no regrets!

Wow, so you'd actually be able to watch every Korean film made each year and still be able to watch older films too! They only made about 80 films last year. :)

I still see good flicks from Asia but I don't have that anticipation and excitement that I used to. Still great stuff coming out of Japan... absolutely loved Koreeda's "Hana yori mo naho" and Miike's "Crows: Episode 0" was very enjoyable.

Johnnie To's still got the goods in Hong Kong, and watched Edmond Pang's "Exodus" last week which was very awesome.

South Korean has usually been my favourite but haven't seen anything amazing lately. "Secret Sunshine" was quite good though.

Ricochan, seen any really good Korean stuff lately?

"A Love" was in theatres when I was in Seoul in September and there was advertising for it literally EVERYWHERE! Well, it had its effect as I bought the DVD when it was released.

I've enjoyed a few Mainland Chinese movies in recent years such as Crazy Stone and Getting Home (aka Air), which is more than what I've enjoyed or rather has lived up to the hype of Hong Kong films.

It would seem though that Thai cinema is where it is at when it comes to martial arts films.
