SITES was remastered by Mei Ah a couple of years ago. A comparison on old bullets showed that it was not as good as the french HK Vidéo DVD but pretty close.
Soft picture and washed out colours were my main gripes with it IIRC.

Still better than the HKL disc by a mile.

IMO DM2 is better for the one cut it received.

Mark completely off topic. Are you getting Ong-Bak? If so which DVD?

How does DM R1 compare to HK Remaster? I know the HK Remaster has Cantonese for 100% of the time but is the branching any good? How does the R1 AV compare?

No idea, having never seen a picture comparison for DM.

I'd expect the Mei Ah disc to be better but I can't guarantee it is.

).
CT doesn't necessarily mean "Class Transfer".

Haven't seen it... so I'll try to rent the HKL. I would've went to see it at the cinema upon its limited release, but the city I live in didn't show it, despite having a dedicated arts theatre!

Doesn't seeing the HKL go completely against your "director's vision" stance? I'd say so. Especially you've not seen it before so don't know which cut you'll prefer.

p.s - As for DM I've read on Rewind the HK DVD is cut and only has the extra scenes as branching BUT in Mandarin. Still the branching mode only kicks in when you press an f'ing button. I'd prefer the R1 over that.

It's a pity CT didn't use the Mandarin for the extra scenes as that would've been better than using English for sure.

I don't know which cut is which really... The HKL is uncut, no???
I know that the HKL has a new score, but it's supposedly an improvement, so it shouldn't be too much of a hardship to sit thru for a rental. On the off-chance I like the film enough to buy it, I'll investigate further...

It's uncut but has a new score. When I say cut or uncut I really mean unaltered or altered it's jus easier to say cut. It's not cut per say but is a different cut. The R4 WILL be the only English subtitled DVD of the Director's Cut (coming any time soon anyway).

p.s - Fair enough if you're renting I've heard it's better also but tbh I'd prefer to hear it properly the first time around. Especially when the score covers the whole film not a few seconds (i.e - the cuts in Face/Off).
