I loved the Leone westerns, haven't seen Duck You Sucker though. OUaTitW is by far the best IMO.

I'll wait and see what they do with the R1s. Hopefully they'll include English mono on all 3 releases and retain the DTS remixes on AFoD and FaFDM.

I'd still like to know when the R1's are coming though. If they have mono i will upgrade but I dont know if they will because its likely that MGM used the Italian prints (same as TGTBATU) as they trumpet "extended footage" so therefore English mono won't exsist for them.. I think?

Hey,

Here's a review of the Fistful of Dollars/For a Few Dollars More SE's. :)

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=56749 - Fistful of Dollars

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=56750 - For A Few Dollars More

TBH I wouldnt mind upgrading these at all - certainly for the improved A/V and extras :) Sadly, no English mono is present but according to DVD Times:
The director of MGM's technical operations has explained how damaged the English composite track had become and he enthuses on the disc about how good the film now sounds.. Up to a point, he's sort of right

Hey,

According to DVD Talk, the SE's are down for a Summer 2005 release on R1. Not only "Fistful" and "Dollars More" but maybe a re-release of "Ugly" as well (?) Not sure why.. maybe they'd remaster the better (IMO) theatrical version... ;)

Actually (sorry) it could take longer.. I forgot about the fact Sony has just taken over/bought MGM or something
What that will mean for the releases of the SE's on R1 I don't know :?

Also... a R2 boxset containing all 3 Spaghetti Western SE's will be out in October (according to Play.com):

Just to chip in... Why would anyone want to watch this in Italian anyways? Unless you ARE Italian of course...

If I were buying then English Mono would be all that was required for me. Anything else is superfluous.

Unfortunately Mark, FOAFDM is still cut :? Not as cut as the R1 I have (that you gave me) but some lines of dialogue are still missing... :!:

Glenn Erikson, who was involved in the DVD SE of TGTB&TU, says mono is unlikely on the R1s of FOD and FAFDM.... :?

Whats the cheapest place to get the new SE's now? :)
Also how is the 5.1? Is it an arse up (ie new effects put in etc) or the mono spread over 5 speakers? ;)

I think the SEs should be £11.99 with discounts at cd-wow so not too bad.

I may wait a bit before DD/upgrading. The SEs are bound to be £7.99 in a few months anyway ;)

Hey,

Something about these German releases:

http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum ... ost2718717

"Excellent post on the Sergio Leone Web Board from Torsten Kaiser of TLEFilms, which I'll reproduce here:

--

Re: Dollar Films: I cannot tell you everything right now, but what I can tell you, is that we will have an edition that features the extras issued also by MGM in the UK (total of 360 minutes); but, as opposed to that release, we will have extensively, newly restored mono soundtracks, that are NOT featured on the MGM issue. We also are working on an extensive restoration of the picture, and will have additional scenes; and we will also make use of the most of the DVD-9 capacity. More later."

They´re gonna make a new tranfers and SEs of "My Name is Nobody AKA Il Mio nome è Nessuno" & "Genius, Two Partners and a Dupe (A) AKA Un Genio, due compari, un pollo" also.

Check out the specs on Imports forum:

From Amazon.de?
They don't mention an English mono track and DVD Profiler say English 5.1 but only German Mono? :? That got me confused.

Yeah, from Amazon.de. It takes 5 days or more for anything to arrive from US/Cad/Europe/Asia to me, unless it's sent via DHL/FedEx/UPS/etc. I usually get stuff from Aussie within 3 days and stuff from the UK within 4 days.
