Why are you calling him a prat? What question does it raise?

He's a friend of mine and in my view he does two things:
1. Replying to Christian propaganda towards Islam.
2. Then turning the table on those Christians who try to attack Islam by throwing their arguments right back at them.

Just to give you an example:
When a Christian person says that women have no right to speak in Islam, which unfortunately is a very common rumour, spread by people living by a mixture of tradition and Islam, I would do the following:
I tell him that it might be better to stop talking like that as a Christian, because having this conversation with me will be very embarrassing to him. I offer him the chance to stop the debate and to discard this opinion of his. If he doesn't agree I show him some verses in the very book he believes in, the Bible. Apostel Paul says for example:

14 Corinthians:
34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

So often times Christian women say they have the right to preach and to teach etc. unlike Muslim women who have to keep their mouths shut and who have no rights. I prove to them that this is not true. In fact I showed them what their Bible says about Christian women. If they were speaking in a civilised manner to me I just show them. If they were acting totally hysterically (which happened quite often to be honest) I show them and then I add telling them they are supposed to shut up, because they aren't allowed to open their mouths. Why? Because Paul says, "Keep your mouths shut in the church." He also says they don't have the right for education. If they have a question they have to go home and ask their husband. Paul even says it's a shame for Christian women to talk in the church. A SHAME! A dishonour. Obviously he was a sexist and he is coming from a culture which still views women as inferior, subjects to men. And this is what Christianity teaches, not me. It's in the bible. I'm just pointing to that. So the next time you see a Christian lady preaching or singing in the church, this is NOT Christianity. Christianity calls for the opposite of this. So therefore to all these Christian woman who say, "We have the right to speak etc etc":
NO, YOU DON'T! Your bible says otherwise.

In fact Timothy, a student of Paul, in 1 Timothy Chapter 2, Timothy the apostle says:

11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Notice that the student of Paul says, that women have no right to have any authority over men and that they should keep silent. That's about it basically. Christian women should keep their mouth shut. Both Paul and Timothy say the bible says:

1. women have no right to teach
2. they have no right over men
3. they should keep their mouths shut
4. they should learn in silence
5. if they have any enquiries they should go home and ask questions to their husbands or their fathers

That's why Muslims smile at all these woman's rights organisations that are mainly run by Christians who are always saying Shariah law this Shariah law that. Why don't they talk about their bible that tells them to keep their mouth shut? It's so funny all those Christian woman rights groups, they don't know that what they are doing is a sin according to their bible, because it tells them to keep their mouths shut.

There are so many Christian woman on YouTube making videos that are directed to Muslim men. But they aren't allowed to do what they do according to their bible. They should be "good people" and keep their mouths shut, close their YouTube accounts and just be good Christians. But no matter how often they are told to, they won't do that because they cannot follow this rule which proves their bible is illogical and which proves that Christianity is false because they aren't even able to follow their own book.

Some have responded that they modernised. But yet these rules in the New Testament are forever. So Christians have this pick & choose game. When they see something nice in the bible like "Love thy neighbour", they will quote it infinitive times for us, "Oh, the bible says, 'Love thy neighbour' ." But then when I show them Paul and Timothy telling women to keep their mouths shut they say, "Errrmmm... oh no, we don't follow THIS." Of course not. It's pick & choose. Whatever looks good will show. Whatever looks bad makes them say, "We don't follow that". Please!

So Christian women, keep your mouths shut. I'm NOT telling you that! It's the bible that does.

Because the video was posted to take the piss out of a Christian, which, from a Muslim, is a bit rich. I don't see how one religious person can laugh at another, without looking in the mirror. Realising that certain religious texts/tenets written thousands of years ago at a vastly different time of human development (both spiritually and culturally) can be fallible and outdated, and the idea that ALL religiuous texts must be followed to the very letter for all time is exactly what seperates modern, sensible religious followers from the crazy fundamentalists. I'm not defending Christians who attack Islam, any Christian who attacks Islam as a religion is a hypocrite and ignoramus - and I can say the exact same thing about Muslims who attack Christianity.

Now this rant of yours, who is it aimed at? Are you talking about the crazy Christian right, or do you honestly believe that the members of these boards - who may or may not be Christians, but we can say come from a predominantly "Christian" culture - are actually open to the level of criticism you've thrown out in that long post of yours?

If you respond to Christian fundamentalists with a rant like the one above, then you completely fall into the trap of acting like they are. There is no reasoning with most fundamentalists, so to confront them with your own brand of religious ire is completely futile - imo of course!

I was just giving an example of how I reply to Christians that come up to me and criticise Islam with things that exist in their very own religion and even to a higher amount. I admit the example turned into a very long one. Don't interpret it as an offense to anyone, but those who come up to me and try to give me example of why Islam is awful.

That's cool then, I know there are some members on these board who come across as having a pretty insensitive and slightly ignorant view of Islam, but they would also be the first to put the boot into Christianity too, no doubt!
