Die Hard

Top: R1 SE DVD
Bottom: North American Blu-ray

These BD screen captures were taken by a member on the AVSforum who goes by the name of "House". I matched them with the DVD release.
Die Hard benefits from a resolution of 1080P. There's is much better compression thanks to AVC encoding, even during explosions and fast
motion scenes, artifacts are barely visible. Colours appear more correct which may be due to better encoding. Overall, this HD transfer is pretty
spot on for a film of this age shot on this type of film stock. Be happy that grain is also intact as some studios these days are using DNR (Paramount)
Not as good as recent movies on HD but I can't imagine it getting much better than what we have here.

Praise you for posting those. I was wondering wether to get rid of my three double discs sets or not.

Great improvement.

Whenever I upgrade the DIE HARD trilogy is top of my list.
