It looked sexual to me

Surely the first MI was more of a spy thriller type film than MI-2, I remember it was tricky to follow (I was about 13 then mind). MI-2 was more of an action film.

Ultra-stylish vigilante comic, but not as much fun as it should be.

Frenzy (1972): 4/5
A dark, well played Hitchcock film, I enjoyed it (if thats the right word). This film involves the hunt for a viscious killer (and in innocent man on the run, typical of Hitch's work). Full of British character actors and also felt a bit Wicker Man-ish (Anthony Schaffer wrote the screenplay), and its interesting how food features in the film, one scene (where the inspector has a curious meal) reminded me of one in The Wicker Man (1973). Quite violent compared to other Hitchcocks I have seen with some powerful, dark scenes. There is some humour as well though.
Though the film came out in 1972, it doesnt look very 70's in the film but an earlier time.

I thought it looked very early 70s London what with the fashions and haircuts, etc... The disco and punk stuff didn't come 'til later.

I've been watching a surprising amount of movies these last few days, mostly due to the BBC delivering some quality programming:

- Wall-E: Pretty sure I already reviewed/scored this once, but I enjoyed seeing it again. 4/5.

- Ratatouille: Probably my favourite Pixar movie, cause it just delivers an all levels: nice story, nice setting, nice characters, nice music, looks amazing, and it's also very funny: 5/5

- The Hangover: Kinda expected more from this after all the huge hype it has gotten over the last 2 years. It was pretty good, but not really the comidy classic some have made it out to be. Not for me, anyway. I didn't really care for any of the characters, and it was a bit juvenile and easy at times.

Don't get me wrong, it's obviously wayyyyyyyyyyy better than the usual stupid 'comedy' garbage that comes from the USA, like 'White Chicks' or one of those newer parody flicks, but nothing brilliant. 3/5

- Revolutionary Road: Great drama with an outstanding cast. Winslet and DiCapucino take turns in the scene-stealing department, and Michael Shannon comes in and just fucking owns it. Brilliant.
It's nice to see this kind of depression being the subject of a movie for once, and Winslet is just picture-perfect in portraying it. 4.5/5

I was going to watch that but fell asleep before it started, so instead I watched:

Point Break (1991) - 4/5

Great action film! I really want to see Strange Days now, as this and Near Dark have both been surprisingly good.

The Silent House (2010) - 0.5/5

A horror film done in one take (or with the illusion of one take anyway) sounds intriguing, yet this was a complete waste of time and such a chore to sit through - I'd have turned it off within the first half hour if I hadn't wasted this month's Lovefilm streaming allowance on it.

Near dark is brilliant. I feel 4/5 is a bit generous for point break but only coz it's so so DUMB

Carry On Camping 2/5 unusual circumstances led to me watching this the other night, typical carry on,daft,pretty poorly acted but harmless,charming fun nevertheless.

The Guard 3.5/5 The excellent Brendan Gleason excels as a boozed up,whoring irish garda who gets embroiled with powerful drug dealers.Ably supported by Don Cheadle this is pretty good.

Didn't know there was a German BD - I never think to look to Europe for Blus. Surely only a matter of time before this comes out in the UK then... assuming Universal's rights haven't reverted to Fox.
