Blood: The Last Vampire R2J vs BD-J
Comparing the 2001 DVD release of Blood: The Last Vampire with 2009's Blu-ray. There seems to exist a boxed edition, containing both the Theatrical & Digital cut, plus a Special Features disc spread across 3 volumes. Images seen here are from the standalone reissue, catalog #SVWB-5006. Dreary environments aside, playback via thumb drive matches other "SD" releases, e.g. Valley, Castle, & others. Playback via disc however, with Active Backlight enabled as a major influence, it's an absolute power house, and altogether different beast, due to the natural setting and high level graphics, as well as progressive play-through, and makes for an extremely special viewing. All that said, Blu-ray's restoration is undeniable, and unlike Kenshin's release thankfully.
