The trailer is great. High hopes for this.

It's no shocker that the posters look similar, if you're going to have a close up of a single Karate move within the dimensions of a one-sheet then a near-verticle high kick is the obvious choice.

Passed uncut with a 'PG' (presumably less violent then that the original trilogy) at a run time of 140 mins(!)
Jeez, talk about overlong.

140 mins seems too long to me.
Saw a trailer for this in the cinema before Prince of Persia. Why is it called The Karate Kid when Jackie is teaching him kung-fu FFS?

I believe it was because the kid had prior experience with karate in the USA, so the chinese kids bully him and call him 'the karate kid'...grim_tales wrote:140 mins seems too long to me.

Something like that.
Personally, I'm glad it's 140 minutes, cause hopefully that means lots of training-sequence and character-building etc. It means they wont rush through it as they do with so many 'kiddy-flicks'.
I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

Have you seen it already or is that just how you think it will be?
I hope it has character building and stuff too but even stuff like Drunken Master/36th Chamber of Shaolin wasnt as long as that, and that has lots of training in it

Hopefully a Director's Cut will come out with 3hrs of character building, then it will rival the best works of Dickens and Shakespeare!

It's a movie about a kid who learns to beat up some bullies.
Does that sound like a plot that requires 140 mins of "character building"?
The original did it in 127 mins - and that was quite long.

Scored a big hit at the US box office with a $56m opening weekend.
More than twice what The A-Team grossed (in at second place with $26).

Doesn't the Chinese government force Chinese film-makers to always make Chinese look like the good guys?
