James Bond on BD, in France this November:

None of the first batch interest me. Fingers crossed they get:
DTS-HD MA 5.1
DTS-HD MA 2.0/1.0
But I bet they'll just have 5.1.

I wouldn't be surprised as that happened with the the UE DVDs.
But it seems that many UK BDs are just ports of the US releases so unless they actively drop them and then re-encode the discs...?
Or there's a scary possibility that even the US BDs won't include them, in which case thank god I've got the R1s.

I can see what I said above happening OR no Mono/Stereo period and just Remixes.bradavon wrote:I wonder if USA will get Mono but Europe won't, like last time.
Many are, many aren't. Many early Warner titles were the USA discs (e.g - Enter the Dragon) but many are now re-presses to include Europeans dubs/subs. It's at this stage Mono/Stereo could be dropped. The video encode itself is the same though.Markgway wrote:But it seems that many UK BDs are just ports of the US releases so unless they actively drop them and then re-encode the discs...?

The cover art is lame.
Wish they'd go back to the original poster art like they used on the old VHS releases. The UE DVD coverart was actually better. Everytime they tamper with it the sleeves grow poorer. I just hope they haven't buggered about with the films in a negative way. Would be awesome if they located the BBFC-censored footage for Dr. No and From Russia With Love. Extemely unlikely anyone involved will bother though...

1. Reduce fight between Bond and chauffeur particularly the blows when latter is defenceless and the knee kick.grim_tales wrote:What was censored from Dr. No Mark?
2. Reduce killing of Dent to one shot, removing extra shots into Dent's back.
3. Remove the line "I'm sure she will amuse the guards" ("The guards will amuse her" would be an acceptable alternative).
4. Reduce the beating up of Bond.
All cut to avoid an 'X'

No one outside of the BBFC and the production company has seen the censored footage but I'd imagine it would pass uncut with a '12' today. Most of the PG-rated Bonds even the ones with cuts would be 12(A) certs today due to the moderate violence. We're so used to seeing Bond on Bank Holiday TV but watch them again and they're more violent than you think... electrocution in Goldfinger, neck-breaking in Thunderball, a man set on fire in Diamonds Are Forever, etc... Only TWO Bond films have ever had their cinema cuts waived in the UK - Thunderball (for some reason) and Licence to Kill. The rest are still cut as per with the exception of Goldeneye (which had some cinema cuts waived) and Tomorrow Never Dies (which had only the video cuts waived).
