I see it everytime I go into HMV Lancaster, for £18, and I can't be bothered. It's cut (OK, I'll let it go, it may be outofsync mono being a FS master. I just don't care anymore

Ong Bak 2 - 4.5/5
Tony Jaa has really worked on his acting abilities. Unlike his other two films, this one seems to come with a storyline that is more decent. Watched it without subs, so I don't know exactly what it is about, but I do understand now why this film is called "Ong Bak 2" even though it takes place hundreds of years prior to part 1.

The action? WOW! The guy exceeded himself again. Ever saw a guy backflipping on an elephant's proboscis only to smash his shin onto another guy's head? Jaa uses so many fighting styles in this film, including beautiful swordsplay.

I absolutely LOVE Tony Jaa. You see that he keeps improving himself with every movie, DETERMINED to show the audience something new and fresh and original and good, where he could just as easily just cash in on his athletic talents and make the same kind of movies for many many years.

However, this Ong-Bak 2... it's just the 1st part of a 2 part movie, right!? Where did you watch it btw?

TV series (especially LOST) or films such as "Ong Bak 2" are the rare exceptions that I would download, because I am not patient enough to wait. They are products of which I know I'll be buying the DVD/Blu-Ray.

Ong Bak 2 actually sounds pretty good. TYG is better than Ong-bak but both are pretty rubbish.

You're right to do so. I'm pretty much the same, cause I prefer just buying the original. But some stuff you just need to sample before just to make sure.

And yeah, I believe they decided to split the movie up in 2 parts orso. Really cant wait to see it either, but I do think I'll wait for a DVD release (unless there wont be a decent DVD released in the coming months...)

Still have to watch Chocolate, Ip Man and Champions as well...

You all don't seem to get it.

This is one of the best and most inventive movies of all times. A movie I wouldn't even be calling trash anymore, more like an surreal Avantgarde-Splatter-flick. Watched it in a theater last year with deafening sound, one of my most intense and rewarding cinematic experiences I've ever had.

Speaking of drugs, that reminds me of something:
In the theater where I've been watching "TGP" there was a guy two rows in front of me, who was headbanging and shaking his fists throughout the movie, especially during those loud music parts. At first I actually thought he was epileptic, but then he just seemed to be enjoying it a little bit more than anyone else. :mrgreen:

Ip Man - 4/5
Very good film. Donnie Yen's performance was terrific here. The supporting cast was mixed bag, Simon Yam was dependable as ever. The guy playing the Japanese general was okay, as was the out-of-towner Northern-style boxing bully.

It's nice to see filmmakers who KNOW how to shoot action properly. I'm so sick of Hollywood's recent trend of shaky camerawork, close shots and lightning fast editing. It's f**king horrible most of the time, only Paul Greengrass (Bourne 2 & 3, United 93) has been able to make that style work and not seem like a turgid mess of lazy filmmaking.

Sammo's fight choreography was absolutely top notch here, much better than his efforts in Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle (Actually I thought that film was really poor, not funny at all. 2/5.)

The plot of "Patriotic martial artist vs. Foreign meanies" is utterly cliched though, but it's one of the tropes of the near-contemporary period martial arts sub-genre, so it's entirely forgivable.
