FYI this is actually £4.99. It has the DVD Forums £1 affiliation code slapped on the end. I thought I recognised the code.

Not that it matters as it's £2.50 at CD WOW USA :D

BEWARE!

My Mona Lisa turned up today and is not the proper Anchor Bay released as advertised but a "Bay View" budget range from Anchor Bay. It loses all extras, isn't anamorphic (the proper AB is), the menu is incredibly basic with literally just a Play option and doesn't even have chapter stops. The PQ is awful too boot. I especially cannot stand 1.78/1.85:1 non-anamorphic in particular.

In short it's a mess. I'm not sure it's worth sending back for 50p (for a refund) but I will e-mail asking for a replacement as CD WOW are listing the proper DVD (which maybe OOP). I notice Rewind have just updated their listing too, pity they didnt' do it sooner.

The old Anchor Bay is the best one to get, beating the Criterion.

p.s - It also loses the DD5.1 and just has the DD2.0. Maybe not a big loss.

Lol, only Anchor Bay could come up with a budget range worse than their premium releases.

I was considering putting it on eBay where I may even get a £1 for it and double my money :D . That is assuming AB cannot source me the correct DVD.

If you see the usual AB logo but it in fact says Bay View be very careful about buying it.

I'm always careful about anything with Anchor Bay on it.

I don't think I've bought a DVD from them that hasn't disappointed me.

The only Anchor Bay DVD I own is 'Repulsion' by Roman Polanski, and there are no problems to report! :)

There utter incompetence at creating 5.1 remixes aside (thankfully DD1.0/2.0 is usually included though) and this DVD I've no problem with AB.

I own probibly over 100 Anchor Bay dvds, most stunning examples of how to make a dvd. Cheapo releases are insane! esspecially as nearly all Anchor Bay titles cost a few quid anyway! insanity

I own a lot of them and like many of them and many are stunning dvds :) yes some are crappy, but on the whole most I own are the best versions by a mile and no other company even wants to own them, never mind release a good dvd of them.

I guess you lot are just unlucky in what you buy from Anchor Bay :)

hahaa, motherfucker (not Mark), it worked. I was sure they'd be cancelled.

Ok, what the hell am I talking about? I few days ago Brad mentioned cdwow has some HKL for £2.99. Well, guess what? The numbers are the same at the US site. But the currency is of course not. Add $2 voucher = I ordered The Master and Outlaw Brothers for $0.99 each. I actually paid full $2.99 for Seoul Raiders because I felf bad about taking (too much) advantage of their obvious mistake in pricing. Although I did drop The Odd Couple from $4.99 to $2.99 with a voucher.

Sorry I didn't tell you guys about this before. I figured if everybody makes orders they'll notice their mistakes sooner. Now it's safe. My orders are posted :D

EDIT: ah, crap, they seem to have fixed the prices. But they've only raised the prices by $2, so you can still get some HKL's for $2.99 if you use voucher. There's one working $2 voucher link in brad's thread (all others are dead  )

Thanks but it's been known for ages the prices are considerably cheaper at the USA to UK CD WOW sites.

I only listed the UK listing for information. I never actually order from it. I prefer to use the UK site first off as it gives me a rough idea of the price. I then find out the actual USA CD WOW price.

I didn't know about Outlaw Brothers but The Master as been that price for a while now, it's been mentioned a few times too. Sorry to burst your bubble :D

p.s - I think it's time to split the thread off.

what? You mean everybody else knew cdwow had HKL's $0.99 delivered? Next time you might tell me, too (not that I would tell you until my order is shipped :D )

Trust me on this, CD WOW don't make mistakes on their prices. They do knock prices down to insanely cheap numbers at times though. I've been using CD WOW for long enough to know this.

If you see a bargain post it!

I didn't realise they were quite that cheap but yes otherwise it's been known for a while. I paid $2.99 for Seoul Raiders using a $2 off code but see it's now $2.99 before voucher code. So it's dropped again. The same goes for The Master (it was originally $2.99 afters both vouchers too), which doesn't interest me.

CD WOW T&Cs clearly state using two vouchers (code + link) will break the T&Cs but in honesty CD WOW let this rule slip by. You're only hurting yourself by not using both vouchers and saving money. I wouldn't feel bad. If CD WOW really minded they'd cancel your order and issue you a refund. Which they do do every now and again, but not often.

As to not mentioning it. I do, Romero does, Slasher does, Saltysam does and Grim does. It's just you've not been paying attention :D . Seoul Raiders and The Master are mentioned a few pages back.

Do they have LAST HURRAH FOR CHIVALRY?

That's the only one I'm after.

WTF??? Are you banned from CD WOW?

p.s - No, they have the R1 though. What's wrong with that? It looks much better than the HKL.

Just checked: £9.99.

When Hung said about cheap HKLs...

I was hoping they had LAST HURRAH cheap (it has better subtitles, apparently).

Though if the R1 was dirt cheap I'd maybe go for that (better extras).

But a tenner? Not a chance.

Even if that's so I doubt the R1 has bad subs, unless they're dubtitles (are they?). Enough to lose the extras? I doubt it.

Nope, try £6.82. A decent price. Maybe more than you want to spend which is fair enough.

O-Kay. I just thought you'd be knackered after seeing how much the CD WOW price was, it obviously was really hard for you. I do understand.

You'd think you'd be pleased when someone saves you over 30%, I guess not.

I hear they're virtually the same. If that's true I'd rather see it in HD. Not that I'd buy it.
