It confirms DTS & DD5.1 only (No Mono or Stereo AT ALL) and also lists the extras in a fashion so it's easy to see what's new and what's old.

Now DTS has definitely been confirmed for GE, TND and TWINE (+ ALL uncut too) I'm definitely upgrading. Even if they aren't really Remastered it will be worth it.

Time to eBay me thinks.

TWINE was always uncut. LTK is not confirmed as an "uncut presentation" but I'm sure it is.
Will surely upgrade what I have though

Even GE and TND (they might be the same footage wise as the DVDs I have but still).

So in lamens terms MGM's back catalogue is now being distrusted by Fox?

What about all the Sony re-releases? Does this mean they're still owned by Sony or are now owned by Fox or even MGM again? Or did they belong to MGM all along.

Why can't MGM distribute their own catalogue like everyone else? A year and a change already, what???

More like ENtrusted to Fox. This is excellent news, cuz Sony neglect their classic catalogue. Fox on the other hand release their classics on a regular basis and threat them like royalty. Now, if only someone like Warner or Fox could handle the Columbia & Tristar libraries.

Sony/MGM (same thing) own the films, the home entertainment licence is held by Fox, so they own the DVDs/HD-whatevers they produce including any extras they have produced. No different than what Criterion does really.

Interesting to note that the packaging claims 1.66 anamorphic for the first three films whereas the previous releases were matted to 1.78. Orignal aspect ratio for the first time on DVD. The old VHS releases were also a correct 1.66.

Cool, it's unsual for big studios to go near 1.66:1. So they'll be uncropped for the first time too? It's a pity they've not got Mono to make it really definitive.

1.66:1 was the British ratio, it was common for them to be matted to 1.85:1 in America so they were shot to accomodate that. Either ways fine but 1.66:1 is slightly preferable

Right, the Hammer movies of the 50's and 60's were also 1.66, which means some of the 1.78 or 1.85 transfers are tightly matted. Apparently the Warners releases are particularly bad for this. I don't think the 70's films were 1.66, but rather 1.85. Not certain, though.

If the "penny has dropped" it means someone has finally realised the situation they are in after possibly being unaware of it for a long time, depending on the situation.

Actually, a typical US release would look fine matted. What went wrong with the inital three Warner Hammers is that they framed them wrong, taking too much of the top off whilst showing more of the bottom. It wasn't an even matte

Interesting that A View To A Kill is rated "12" is that for the extras?
I might up "From Russia With Love" as well as the upgrades of Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice for the early films. Live and Let Die is a classic and Man With the Golden Gun is good fun.
Even though "LTK" will be uncut, strange that its not mentioned on the packaging but TND and Goldeneye are??? Uncut 15's (for GE/TND) seem a bit harsh, no? I can understand it for LTK.
