Those screencaps are useful. But 10k bullets is the most unreliable review site I have ever seen

10K gets things wrong like the Celestial mono thing I mentioned and their claim that the German Leone titles were progressive

Is that not more a case of inaccurate opinion from 10k rather than faulty screen caps?

The Optimum release looks signifcantly inferior to the IVL. How accurate those caps are I don't know...

Those are my caps, not their. The second cap is from Grudge Song which was released about a month ago

But I don't mean to start any "I hate 10k bullets" conversation. I just wanted to point out that some of their reviews are not that reliable

Caps only tell part of the story as you know.

It could still beat the IVL as that has a framing issue. Does this include AB captures? I'll check it out when I get home.

Does the HK IVL have the framing/freezing thing? TBH I didnt notice it AT ALL on my set but remember Romero (who was one of the first to mention this) had the Korean set not the HK set.

As Dave says that Optimum Asia DVD looks very much like my AB DVD and as I've not noticed the IVL's Framing Issue it's the clear winner for me.

A Bey Logan commentary isn't enough reason to upgrade.

I hear it's a problem on both. I'm sure Mark has the HK and has noticed it.

I can Eva BUT TBH I'm not making a habit of it, most of the comparisons so far don't have any real value apart from a quick look. Only LD is likely to buy German DVDs, only Tom and a few others the French DVD.

I did two last night and it took flipping ages, longer of course for the existing captures.

It would help if I knew where the dodgy frames in the IVL were? As it would be ideal to use those frames. I get them done later.

There were quite a few from when Mark is stealing the microfilm from the mob's counterfeiting facility.

So, does the IVL have accurate, English, subtitles or the usual Engrish subtitles?
And can I still order it? I thought this was discontinued...

The original box set contained ABT, ABT2 and ABT3. They then released it with The Killer.

From what I remember the subs were fine.

I wouldn't get the IVL if you're a big fan of the first part. The freezing frames annoyed the piss out of me during the scene where Mark steals the recording and the finale.

They're serviceable. A bit Engrishy at times making some parts slightly difficult to understand, eg I struggled with Chow's award-winning monologue.

Every 5 minutes the image freezes for a short time. Sometimes it happens more often. It's unbelievably irritating when there's fast movement in the image and everything just freezes for a moment.

Okay as I didn't spot it on my 28" CRT I want to see if I do now on my 32" LCD. I hear it's worst during the scene when Mark is stealing that counterfeit thingy. When does that happen? (in minutes please).

I don't know about that, but I remember it being very noticable when Emily Chu accidentally breaks the car window. I'm not sure if I even watched the whole film through.

Sorry I can't give you any accurate times. I sold my IVL disc the same day I received it.

Yep, it's really annoying. I only kept it because part 2 and 3 are fine discs.

Brad, making screenshots of every single time it happens, would mean to make like dozens of caps.
