That was "reasonable" I guess but not impressive.

Lampard's goal was obviously well over the line. I spotted it upon first real time viewing. I was amazed when it was disallowed. That 60 secs of play apart, however, Germany dominated and deserved the win. Far too much hype over the England team. Happens every tournament and will happen again next time. Two poor games and a slight 1-0 victory over a weak Slovenia and there were pundits talking about "we're gonna win this". When will they learn?

I think every England fan has to say fair play to Germany as well, how many of us watched our opening games thinking that if/when we go up against a half decent side who could pass and run and strike we would get well and truly hammered, and Germany proved us all right in the end!

They're still the luckiest bastards in international football tournaments though getting away with our 2nd goal! :D (not that I think it mattered at all to the game)

I agree Germany dominated - could have scored 6 or 7 TBH. In the 2nd half they were so good and made it look very easy.

Rooney was awful. He obviously wasn't match fit. I think it might be something to do with his temper as well. He was warned about controlling his temper etc, had he put a tackle in the whole tournament or done anything of worth? No.
Capello said he would pick players based on form, not reputation. When the WC comes, he did the opposite, so is the manager under pressure to pick players?

The Brazillian girl is gorgeous :)
The final was between Mexico and Italy, and Italy won by a nipple.

However, I have to say the asian countries didn't have worthy contestants.

Anyway, about the game today: I was at my girlfriend's house and we were out shopping, so I haven't been able to see the first half, and I started watching it from the 50th/55th minute orso. It was the period where England were pressing so that looked good, but after the 2 break-away goals which sealed the match, it was pretty damn obvious England's organisation was shite...

Only found out about the disallowed goal once I got home tonight and watched MOTD. What a shame. Blatted should be shot in the face!

Also a extremely poor goal allowed in the Mexico-Argentina game. :banghead: It's beyond ridiculous. 2 billion people around the world can see within 2 seconds if a person is offside or if a ball has crossed the line, but the douchebags on the pitch who get payed to see it, can't. It's incredible in this day and age that this kinda unfairness and injustice still is a huge part of modern day football. :rage:

Anyway, Germany did obviously deserve the win, but England deserved the chance to hope for another outcome if that goal had stood.

Tomorrow Holland is playing Slovakia. Not sure what to expect. In theory we have the better players, yet at the same time Holland hasn't been playing very well this tournament (yet the 3 matches before the tournament were outstanding and gorgeous to watch...), so I just hope they won't underestimate the opponent and give it all they have (and can).

Yeah, England's defence/organisation was shite for lots of the game and those 2 breakaway goals, but that goal from Lampard deserved to stand as you say. I mean it wasnt even disallowed, the douche of a ref didnt see it (!)

Bo-ring! Yet another Hispanic team thru to the quarters.

That's five out of eight (either Spain or Portugal go thru tonight).

What happened to the World Cup?

Nothing happened to the world cup. It just seems like the 'hispanic' teams are doing better this year than normal.

A shame about Japan going out, and I could swear I saw a couple of elbows which deserved a red card, but tbh no-one really deserved to win this match...

Well, as long as the Dutch go out, I'll be happy. What a bunch of fucking bores they've been. One good player (Robben) and ten useless tits. I watched all four of their games and you'd be hard pushed to find 15 mins of good play. Ghana are obviously going out. I'd say Germany are the only non-hispanic team with a chance.

You're correct about Holland: they have been shite so far. Wouldn't surprise me if they'll lose to Brazil. They really need to kick Van Persie out of the forward-position, and get Huntelaar back in. Would also prefer either Elia or Afellay on the left-wing position, although of Robben is fit he'll play on the right-wing, and Kuyt did very well on the left wing last match. Kuyt is always great btw.

So many disappointing games and disappointing performances from "megastar" players.

Spain deserved the win, Portugal did bugger all for long periods. Ronaldo was playing??

You should change your sig to "we are the laughing stock of the world cup". We are truly shite, but one thing you can always rely on the England football team to do is that they always, always without fail let you down in the end.at that they are world beaters. It's one of the reasons i don't give the stuff about the National team but i feel sorry for patriots like you Grim whose football bread and butter seems to be the National side.

Uruguay through to the semis. Ghana should have won, however it was a penalty but not sure if the free kick leading to it should have been given.

Sad about Ghana going out. Relieved that Suarez won't be playing against Holland. Nice win today over Brazil. Bad first half by Holland, but nice 2nd half where we were much better, and Brazil just collapsed completely and were a mess after half-time. Lucky first goal, great 2nd goal. Van Persie absolutely worthless this tournament.

I know the dutch haven't exactly set this tournament on fire, but if ever a nation have ever deserved to win the World Cup time and time again it's them, so I'm hoping this year they can do it!

That's kinda the thing: there were times when we were really really good, and went out...

... and now we are shite, apart from the 2nd half against Brazil (which still wasn't great, but at least it showed some spirit), and we're in the semi's.

I'm not really sure if we should win. I still think Germany, Spain and Argentina are in much better form than us, so it will be very very difficult to win anyway, but unless we really REALLY show some great football in our last 2 matches, this isn't really a torunament to be 'proud' off, football-wise.

I would rather see us play gorgeous football for 5 matches orso, and then crash out and be remembered positively for having shown the world fantastic football, instead of winning it with these mediocre displays, and everything jst shrugging their shoulders and going 'it's about time'.

Sadly though, since the first option isn't available any longer, I'll settle for the 2nd one (obviously).
