I'm not sure what Salty or Captainjoe use (something else I think) but everyone else uses:

It's the third quotation set in the first post. AKA Lourdes's instructions.

I think I should have just ignored Tom and kept with VDubMod for HD stuff as there's still a difference in colours when using MPC-HC and its internal decoders + Haali. But mostly because it's a right bloody pain!
I'll be doing the GitS: SAC 'movie' trilogy sometime, that will be fun with the quirky navigation and tap-tap-tap-bloody-tapping of the frame step key.

I'll soon be comparing the SFLV BD (German?) and whatever discs come in the Tartan UK Vengeance Trilogy boxset (both colour and fade to black?). Anyone got the Korean release?

I've got both the korean and french DVDs.

Very old comparison.
A new one with 1920x1080 caps would sure be interesting.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Yeah I've not really had the time today to sit down and go through the thread and forum properly so I'll just be updating the list per request until later tonight. Little Girl has now been added.

Could someone please post Ring (1998) R1 vs Tartan remaster vs whatever? Or if no comparison possible then just loads of screencaps from the R1 (and others if possible).

The R1 is the best, out of those two. The Tartan is NTSC to PAL but still a decent Remaster and it has DTS (over DD5.1) if that interests you.

It's been yonks but I also did a comparison before selling the R1 and it is better but not enough for me at the time to keep both. The Tartan is part of the box set.

If someone posts R1 captures plus timecodes I can add the Tartan. I don't think it's available outside of the box set though. The single disc used to at least be the SHITE cinema transfer version. When Tartan were hideous.

Can you please use the next frame after a scene change. It makes it much easier to find the exact frame. Cheers.

I should be able to add mine Sunday, maybe Monday but I have a hangover planned Monday :D.

What makes you think the Dreamworks and Tartan discs have the same scene changes?

I've just posted the comparison. I should have said I was taking grabs earlier than I did, sorry about that gastero.

Don't you trust Gas and I? ;).

Urm, it's the same movie :D.

Check out Manhunter for example. I matched up Eva's captures, no problems.

I don't know if this was what gas was talking about, but because the Tartan DVD is NTSC>PAL then there's not always the same scene frame change between both discs. For instance I took a few grabs where the corresponding frame on the r2uk disc were the usual interlaced "half & half" inserts.

While you're at it, you guys could compare some other similar films too. Dark Water and something, for example.
