:D Maybe, but I think when Romero sees a film he just watches for entertainment, which is OK - but he says "I enjoy it = good film". :)
I enjoy Arnie's Commando, that doesnt mean its a well made film with artistic merit :P

Talking like that makes no sense at all. If its a good film and you enjoy it, then its a good film and you enjoy it!
Bollocks to artistic shit and all that crap. If its a film you like, then its good.

Commando is fucking superb and is a total classic.

Speaking of Commando, I'd like to see uncut anamorphic DVD released outside of Europe. The distributor muppets used the cut UK master for the R4.

I saw Chapman To in IA2 last night. I didn't really care enough to notice his acting skills because of Edison Chen's and Carina Lau's massive suckage took up the spotlight.

Fair enough :D After all the primary purpose of cinema was to entertain.
Don't worry I like Commando also - surely it has some of Arnie's best lines. :D
However, why did you first watch Seven Samurai? I know you love that film (which has artistic merit by the bucketload as well as being enjoyable - a masterpiece IMO). I mean, weren't you influenced by reviews etc? :)

I dont really know why I watch any films, I just watch anything that catches my eyes :) no matter where its from, I like to take chances on films I havent seen much on also.

I dont find just because everyone else in the world thinks a films the best film ever made and it gets 5 star reviews and everyone raves about it, that it influences me in any way if I didnt want to see it to start with :) many apparently amazing 5 star film I just wont ever see as they just sound and look crappy to me, if it doesnt hook me in some small way I will avoid it forever I guess :)

They're too expensive. Euro>NZD exchange is a killer.

There's an R1 Tin Edition?

Can PJ make short films? Still if it's as good as it looks + LOTR then I'm happy. Definitely I can't wait.

Yeah there is a R1 Kong available in a Tin which has lots more extras than the R2. Also available in a boxset with Son of Kong and Mighty Joe Young.

Heres the Tin:

However the R2 is bundled with 2 Jap King Kong movies from the 60's - King Kong v Godzilla and King Kong Escapes.

Of course I meant the original. Why would a R1 of the 2005 version already be available? :D

Hence the question.

You specifically asked if people were going to see the "Peter Jackson's" version and said you were really looking forward to it, followed by adding you would get the Tin Edition on R1.

That sounds pretty conclusive to me! 8)

If you'd said:

I must say I'm looking forward to it (and will pick up the original 1933 Tin Edition on R1 as well).

Then I'd have so "ohh I see" or I could've still been confused by a tin from 1933 being available on R1 :D

I'm also really looking forward to:

The New World:

http://www.thenewworldmovie.com/

The trailer: High Res (14Mb) - http://movies.apple.com/movies/newline/ ... d_h480.mov

Three reasons:

1. Terrence Malick
2. The subject matter has interested me for years
3. It looks bloody amazing

When's it out?

Can 'Colin Farrell' do a decent English accent? We know he can do an Americna one. Some trivia:

# Although it was ultimately determined to be fiscally unfeasible to shoot the entire film on 65mm film stock, this has the distinction of being the first feature film in nine years to shoot on 65mm stock for non-visual effects shots. The last film to shoot in 65mm was Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet (1996), which remains (as of 2005) the last feature to be entirely shot on 65mm.

# Malick finished the script in the late 1970s, but it lay dormant until 2004.

What's the difference between 35mm and 65mm film?

You got me there
Sorry I should have been clearer. Thats what I meant (ie a Tin of the 1933 version is out on R1). :D

Brad, you seen PJ's first film, the low budget splatter-comedy (in the vein of the Evil Dead 1&2) Bad Taste? It's quite fun. Also his fake documentary Forgotten Silver is fucking brilliant.

Hmmm, I'm not sure about this one. I know everyone says Terrence Malick is like this genius, but I've only seen Thin Red Line and I hated that - sue me if I judge on one film alone. TRL I thought was way over-long and boring as fuck; yeah dude we know what you're trying to say (war is bad, men can lose their sanity in war, etc), but you can do that in 2 hours.

Brad, did you manage to see the '79 theatrical cut of Apocalypse Now? Any significant improvement over Redux?
