Some names just wouldn't sound right the other way round, Takashi Miike for example, don't think I've ever heard or read it as 'Miike Takashi' lolz.

Well, the Japanese had hard time deciding whether to go the western way or not. First it was Family Name --> Given Name, then they actually reversed it (there's a whole generation of hight school students that were taught to do it the western way whenever possible) and then there was an "official" order to stick to the traditions again.
I use Family Name --> Given Name form when I talk about Japanese people with Japanese people. Including Miike Takashi (about him, not with him, unfortunately).
On forums I just use the form that I'm more used to, which often depends on the international popularity of the person.
And sometimes I switch it for the sake of logic (e.g. Koreeda Hirokazu in the Air Doll topic as Bae Doona was featured in the same sentence).
That being said, I think it's pretty much 50/50 with Korean names... Chanwook Park and Park Chanwook.

Korean names I also go surname first.
Eg. PARK Chan-Wook.
KITANO Takeshi would be wierd for most westerners.

I'll never get used to calling Zhang Ziyi, Ziyi Zhang. I simply refuse to do it.

I never go westernised with Chinese and Korean names as 99% of the time they simply don't roll off the tongue anywhere near as well - especially Chinese names as I feel there's a rhythm to how you say their names when using family-name first which stems from most Chinese names being made up of just three or four syllables. Japanese names have more syllables and that makes them more interchangeable to me.

Zhang Zi-Yi for me (with or without the hyphen).
I don't recognise Ziyi Zhang. It's just not right. lol
