I'm just going to talk about film trilogies in general. I don't give a flying fuck about the original subject.

Bollocks :D All 3 are great :D

All 3 A Better Tomorrow films are very good, the 1st is a masterpiece :) I liked ABT3 better when I saw the longer cut.

BITH is a masterpiece. Isnt this often said to be Woo's version of ABT3?
I havent seen IA3 yet.

MODS!!! MODS!!!! Take Eva to the naughty step! :P

I'm ashamed I overlooked the Naked Gun trilogy.

From memory it's a 11.5/15

Good to see people linking their own films. i was thinking of 1 to 3's only.

I believe Spielburgs sci-fi trilogy were intentionally made (close encounters, e.t. & war of the worlds?)

Can also remember John Carpenter doing this >Goes to google<

Yup, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apocalypse_Trilogy

The Thing, Prince of Darkness and In the Mouth of Madness anybody?

Prince of Darkness and ItMoM are part of the same thematic trilogy, but The Thing certainly isn't. John Carpenter has to yet to make a third film.

Well since there is a rebel in our midst, I'll follow in his wake:

Scream:
1 - 4/5 (loved it first time round, grew a bit old quite soon though, but for its original impact it gets the 4)
2 - 3/5
3 - 3/5
Total - 10/15

Naked Gun:
1 - 4.5/5 comedy genius. Might have dated a bit, but can't deny it was hilarious.
2 - 3.5/5
3 - 3/5 The same sort of jokes were getting a little old, but still quite funny.
Total - 11/15

Mission Impossible
1 - 3.5/5 Too confusing a plot, not enough action
2 - 3.5/5 Too simple a plot, lots of action
3 - 3.5/5 As above really.
Total - 10.5/15

Fight Back To School
1 - 4/5
2 - 3/5
3 - 3/5
Total 10/15. The 3rd was quite a different film to the other 2, but all were quite funny.

Once Upon A Time In China
1 - 4.5/5
2 - 4.5/5
3 - 3/5
Total - 12/15. The 3rd, while still decent, was a bit of a let down.

Sex & Zen
1 - 3.5/5
2 - 1.5/5
3 - 3/5
Total - 8/15. If you like naked women it is good, but I actually found part 2 with Shu Qi and Loletta Lee to be quite disappointing, despite finding the former stunning in the recent Blood Brothers.

I haven't seen the third film, but I think part 2 is far better than part 1. Part 1 is a bit boring, although is has great visuals and some great comedy. Part 2 stars goddess Loletta Lee and is a much funnier film. I sold the first film and wasn't planning to see the second until I saw Loletta in Mr. Vampire 4. Then I couldn't refuse the temptation anymore

I haven't seen Part 1. Used to have Part 2, wasn't planning on rebuying but it has some lovely scenes with Shu Qi and Rachel Lee ;) Good music and production values too.

Too much of too fast talking and vicious over-acting in the second part. Furthermore most of the sex-scenes involve that ugly bald guy, and Shu Qi turns out to be a Transvestite, thus destroying an otherwise beautiful lesbian encounter. Arguably the worst of the bunch. Sex in the first part is pretty hot, humour is offending but funny, and there's a voluptuous Amy Yip to boot. The third part features the best storyline and some of the more outrageously entertaining ideas I've seen in HK CAT-III Flicks so far (Nipple-Torture WTF).

Sex is boring (in movies).

Shu Qi is a great actress, but I don't care for her looks.

Elvis Tsui is great (I don't even remember who plays the character, but if there's an ugly bald head, then it must be Elvis Tsui)

I thought Shu Qi was The Mirage Lady or something, half-man/woman? But her lesbian scenes with Loletta Lee are beautiful :)

It's a matter of interpretation of the ending. If they didn't kill the alien at the end, when the rescue team eventually comes it will use that opportunity to eventually assimilate humanity.

It's not that different to PoD really when you think about it, just that in PoD there is no doubt that the big bad monster is alive and ready to kick earth's ass at the end.

The Argento Three Mothers Trilogy...

Suspiria 4.5/5 i just love the opening to this film.

Inferno 3.5/5 Interesting but not on Suspiria's level

Mother Of Tears 2/5 Bonkers 3rd film.it gets 2 for just being entertainingly loopy throughout with a shocking performance from Asia Argento.

Like Brad I'm shocked to hear that from such a big fan of exploitation! Not that i'm criticising, I'm mostly of the same opinion myself!

How about the Samurai X trilogy:

Trust: 5/5
Betrayal: 5/5
Remembrance: 3/5 (Horrible way to end Rurouni Kenshin as a series, but decent if you think of it as a seperate story altogether).

Yeah that's what I meant. It makes no sense and contradicts what Hung has said previously.

He's just into (contextual) Nudity and Sexual Situations. Because that's what Exploitation is all about. Very different of just showing some random Sex-Scene. :P

WTF! They're identical. Both deliberately use trashy and crass sex to titillate and sell the movie. There is nothing contextual about it. Talk about putting exploitation on a pedestal :D.

Sure some movies do you use sex as a way to move the story forward but most it's just a vehicle to go for the lowest common denominator.
HungFist wrote:How?
You've regularly commented on how exploitation is good in part because of the sex.
