Whoa! Just got the new German DVD release from e-m-s (the guys who released "Full Contact", "A Chinese Ghost Story 1- 3" and "Prison on Fire 1 + 2" from HD sources) and the image is stunning. It has the most video information you'll get at the time being and it is sharp as a katana.
For all the Germans here (errr... dragonhero005 who is from Austria
), there is an all new dub, which is way more professional that the old one. The old one is not included, which is a bit of a pitty as it is a classic to me, he he he!
Picture comparison between the IVL/HKL/HK Video/e-m-s:

Anybody on this board speaking/understanding cantonese?
I ask because of the many different translations from this movie. For example, the sentence translated on the Criterion- and the HKL-Disc as "Easy to pick up, hard to put down" is translated on the old german disc (Laser Paradise) as "This game will some day be my end" ("Dieses Spiel wird eines Tages mein Ende sein") and on the new german DVD (ems) as "I feel like touched by death" ("Mir ist, als hätte mich der Tod berührt").
BTW: The new german disc has good picture quality, but unfortunatly there is one frame missing. Instead of the frame you can see this:

It's just one frame out of many thousands, but it's still a little annoying......

I already have HKL one so I'll stick to thatEvaUnit02 wrote:It should be a direct port of the IVL which is included in this comparison. IMO I'd say that you'd be better off with the HKL, for the vastly superior subtitles.Sevket wrote:Has anyone got The Killer (Joy Sales Remastered Version) ? I wonder if it's worth buying
