Paranoid, not at all. I just have a brain and want to keep everything secret, I dont like being told what a films about. I like mystery and suprise a very basic plot summary is more than enuff, that way you always get nice suprises out of films, a lot more than you guys will ever get.
and Unlike the people who read every single review in the press and know the film back to front before they see it  I would go blind into most films if it were not for forced trailers on TV and in cinemas and idiots posting massive spiilers all the time in basic conversations, some dick ruined Million Dollar Bay for me and said howit ended! he thought everyone knew already so he thought it wasnt a spoiler

Shadowless Sword for me I know all I want to, its Korean, fairly interesting soundding plot, plenty of action, looks a nice cast and thats all I want to know. :D if its crap, then so be it I will see for myself and not be told it is before I see it.

I understand your point of view, but my counter-argument would then have to be... if you don't want to know much about it, then why did you enter into a thread titled "Shadowless Sword"? This is a discussion forum existing for the purpose of discussing films. If I enter a thread titled "Shadowless Sword" I would have to entertain the possibility that aspects of the film are going to be discussed within.

I don't think people giving away the ending is the issue here but simply how much of the discussion of more mundane elements of a film is considered too much. I originally came here to discuss film, not DVD specs which I could care a less for. I think it is a problem that non-spoiler DVD spec discussion is mixed in with the mildly-spoiliferous film discussion (something I brought up back when these boards first got resurrected). I'm happy to head my posts with a descriptive spoiler warning, but if you don't want to know anything about a film, I think the last place you should be is in a film-specific thread.

Apologies for the topic digression. :D

memetic wrote: Yeah I quite liked this one. The story is very simple in comparison with Bichunmoo but this works greatly in its favour. Couple of silly scenes in there but doesn't spoil it overall. Sword fights could've been better (Extremely mild spoiler: Unfortunately the first sword fight is probably the best choreographed, the rest tend to rely on close-ups and clever editing) but overall very enjoyable and re-watchable.
Yeah I more or less agree with you on this one.

The R1 is out in August:

It loses the DTS but otherwise looks like an okay package. Shockingly the R4 (which has DTS) is cropped from 2.35:1 to 1.78:1. You can see a screen capture here:

The Thai DVD is only $13.5 at eThaiCD which has DTS, English subs plus extras. I'd be surprised if the extras have English subs though.

They fucking cropped it?!
I can't believe this. Not in 2008...
Stupid bastards.

And re: the R1:
Why do they have to add "The legend of" to every asian film?

Shadowless Sword is being released on Blu-Ray in Germany.
Maybe we'll get an english-subtitled release one day.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

I was thinking that. If I were to buy it: I'd probably still get the R1 now or the Thai R3. I may get that actually as I'd prefer DTS to the Extras.

Sigh! Another German BD without English subs :(
