You've managed to confuse me again???
Markgway wrote:No, you haven't. It's just PC dribble as usual.
Nah in this case not PC just respect. I've met a few latinos and they're nothing at all like their stereotypes.
Markgway wrote:Huh? I never said it was. It's his first time as Bond.
I know but the way you were going on about Craig you'd think he had no previous acting experience.

Easily done.

Oh, I see. Because you've met a few nice Latinos, no Latino can ever be a screen villain, as the ones you met are representative of all the world's Latin population? Have you met any nice Polish people? Can they be baddies per chance?
I know but the way you were going on about Craig you'd think he had no previous acting experience.
Not at all. You just totally misread what I was saying.

Now you're just being flippant. We'll agree to disagree but you new very well that's not what I meant.

Of course I'm being flippant: it's what your silly *POV deserves.

You're the ONLY person I've ever heard complain about Sanchez being a Latino stereotype.

Where do you get this stuff, honestly?

*And before you ask... POV = Point of View.

It's important to the plot Sanchez is a Latino, someone has to be the bad guy. ;)

For some reason I thought there was an audio glitch (?) in my copy, it plays fine but during the part when Milton Crest (?) is talking to Lupé (sp?) he says "You better watch yourself, girlie. I've seen a lotta girls like you come.. and go" on the actual soundtrack it sounds like "You gr.. better watch yourself, girlie". Like a layer change or something.

Wierd...

Anyway,

Licence To Kill - 3.5/5 (as a Bond movie) - enjoyable but doesn't feel very "Bond"-ish. Nice to see it in its uncut glory though.
The UE transfer is excellent.

Unfortunately the same can't be said about the god-awful "remastering" job done on GoldenEye. It's terrible! Both The Living Daylights & Licence To Kill look far better, yet they are older films!

The cropping is also very noticeable! I wish I had kept my uncut R1 version but I sold it on E-Bay a while back in anticipation of these new releases.

I don't know what went wrong in the restoration process but surely this DVD deserves a recall & a proper remaster?

Did you notice the soundtrack issue on LTK: UE?
I tried playing it back but got the same result all the time so doubt the disc was faulty or anything.

Torchwood (Episode 6) - 3/5

OK episode but a bit silly and let down by a weak ending (again). This show wants to be a UK X Files but isn't really :?

hey,

Law Or Justice? - 2/5

Standard courtoom drama done at Shaw Brother's, featuring effective exploitation when it does hit and some valid questions of morals and ethic. Otherwise, not much happens that is noteworthy in Taylor Wong's frame. Except for when the ending hits that is.

That's because you've not been asking the right people ;) . Seriously it's not his role per say (which was fine) it's the number of stereotype Latinos and others as I mentioned get.

Anyway moving on . . .
Markgway wrote:Where do you get this stuff, honestly?
It's out there as much as your opinions on Scottish independence. Where do you get that silly POV from? Years of brutality at the hands of the English hordes maybe?
Markgway wrote:*And before you ask... POV = Point of View.
I know :)

How exactly? Making him American and setting it in America would suddenly mean LTK wouldn't work? It's only important because they set it in South America around drugs.

Again moving on . . .

Good to hear. Mine is on order.

It's only a bit better than the SE right? I've no problem with the SE look.

I don't think any of the Brosnan SE's are worth upgrading (cuts ignored). The R1 SEs are already fine.

I thought the cropping was the same, no?

Brad,

South America (the likes of Columbia, Cuba) are actually where a very large majority of iilegal drugs originate from. It's not stereotyping. It's a fact. North America get drugs supplied through from South America. Therefore, I don't know why you have this problem with a Latino druglord in a film.

I know that, points already made moving on.

p.s - Okay just quickly as no one is getting my point at all.

The stereotyping is the American constantly portraying Latinos as drug lord criminals, it's got naff all to do with where most American drugs come from. You'd think that was obvious by what I've been saying.

Bad Boys 2 or maybe Crank anyone?

Once a Thief 4/5
This is basically John Woo lite. Enjoyable stuff but I was surprised at how unPC it was - the heroes killing innocent lives in cold blood. However, as it's blatantly meant to be a piss take, I think we can forgive Woo for going a bit slapstick. Nice mix, although some of the jokes went a bit over my head....

I think I've now seen all of John Woo's major HK action films (there's not really that many).

Rob-B-Hood 2.5/5

Entertaining but horribly overlong and action-lite Jackie Chan movie.

Actually I think Torchwood was a 3.5/5 :) The set up is great, a bit like "Dog Soldiers" (strange how some plots here are take-offs from movies....?) but the ending...

Harkness should have just shot the bastards.. they're cannibals. Gwen: Just give me an hour with him!" Oh dear. Bad Gwen! :(
They must have thought the "it makes me happy" line was daring. It wasn't. I just thought "Is that it?"

I do like the characters Harkness and Owen though. The odd but of swearing is the only reason this is on at 9pm :? :?

Pirates of the Carribean 2: Dead man's Chest 2/5

Horribly disjointed, lacking cohesion, ridiculously overlong. The worst thing is, after sitting through it all, it doesn't even have a proper conclusion (yes, I know it's part 2 of a trilogy, so we will have to wait for part 3). A massive disappointment after the very enjoyable swashbuckling adventure that was the first entry.

Thank you. Finally someone who agrees with me on Dead Man's Chest.

I agree with you Bruce, not as good as the first one.
I think you gave the film 0/5 Tom, Bruce gave it 2/5. I gave it 3/5.

If anyone is watching "Torchwood", Episode 7 apparently contains some lesbian action for Tosh (the Japanese bird)

Pirates 1 was very average. There's no way I'm sitting through Pirates 2 or 3.

From Russia with Love

7 out of 10

A big improvement after the limp Dr. No (worse than OHMSS IMO).

I loved the cold war setting, the thriller over action emphasis, Connery as bond of course and the gradual development of SPECTRE.

I liked the first part. Part 2 was waaaay too long. And I am only watching the third part because of Chow Yun-fat.

Not even Chow will get me to sit thru 2.5 hrs of "arrrrrrr, swash me buckles!" with Johnny Depp slumming and Orlando Bland.
