hey,
The Curse Of Lola 3/5
Francis Ng and Tian Yuan star in this emotional mystery that plays around with audiences, letting us think we're watching a different genre initially. Director Li Hong directs with style and confidence and while not a stunning debut work, it showcases a talent that has a future.
Francis brings some of his low-key skills when needed and Tian Yuan of Butterfly fame continue to develop step by step. Also performs the closing credits song.

Zombie Honeymoon 2/5
Not sure why or how I ended up watching this?
John Tucker Must Die 3/5
Aye not bad but Mean Girls was better.
Severance 4/5
Pretty damn good kinda weird. It's hilarious yet unpleasant and sick at the same time. Sure it has black comedy... but there are some scenes, which are just not right...
Imagine watching Hard Candy with slapstick comedy.... and that's the sort of mood generated throughout this film.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) - 4.25/5
I really enjoyed this
I have read the book of course - or had it read to me I beleive, many times when I was young, but I also grew up with this film version. It's not very close to the book and yet - I really don't know why Dahl didnt like it - even though he worked on the film (he wrote the screenplay). Maybe the accuracy of book to film plus its well known that Dahl's script was not adhered to and re-written. The only time Gene Wilder says anything from the book is during the disturbing boat scene ("There's no earthly way of knowing/Which direction we are going/Is it raining/Is it snowing...")
Wilder is superb as the strange/sinister but eventually nice candy maker Wonka, wierd yet charming, and I love the comic performance of Roy Kinnear (Mr. Salt). When you see how posh Veruca is, its funny her father is a rather bluff, straight talking Northerner
The production design is great too, the picturesque German town and the beautifully designed factory. And I love the Oompa Loompas too, with the little songs they make up
As for songs, who can forget Veruca's show-like "I Want The World (I Want It Now)" and "I've Got a Golden Ticket" - great

Silent hill 2.5/5
After a good start, the film went a bit west unfortunately. Love the pyramid head thingy though.
Snakes on a Plane 4/5
Now that's what I'm talkin' about!
Absolutely loved it. Funny and thrilling in equal measure.

The Hustler: 4 outta 5.
Good movie, GREAT performances by pretty much the whole cast. Newman and Gleason are amazing. Would have liked to have seen Gleason do more simular roles.
However, it was a bit slow at times, and pretty quiet when there's no music or whatever rolling in some scenes. So it's a very well made movie, but also a movie that can be a bit of a task to sit through...

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...
