Boo. In that case, even a new one would be useless, don't you think? It's not like it can be used as a reference tool, to save the constant "Is this film any good?" questions. Unfortunately, people are just going to have to keep asking those questions :)

@Kurgan:
On the Search page there is an option that let's you chose how you want the search results to be displayed.

Display results as: O Posts O Topics

Chose "Posts" and you'll get all the posts that contain the word you are looking for. That way you only have to find the review thread in the search results, but do not have to browse through the whole thread.

I don't find it much use in reality (unless I'm using it incorrectly) as all it does is highlight the word. Fat lot of good when you still need to wade through 137 pages.

Lots of 4/5's as I'm rewatching stuff. :)

Hana and Alice - 4.5/5
I just love it. Yes it's probably overlong, yes a lot seems very put on. But you know what? For me none of this detracts from the overall beauty, humour and cuteness of this film. Whenever I watch it I have a huge grin on my face the entire time. I give full marks to the short film version of it. I am such an objective cynical bastard and being able to enchant me even when I notice flaws is quite a feat.

Windy Tales - 4/5
Also makes me grin like this. :D :D :D
Nice music, nice animation, pretty voices, a relaxed atmosphere and drifting clouds. Sold.

Blood: The last Vampire - 4/5
The English dubbing is pretty horrible but it's a gorgeous peice of CGI action and will always have a special place in my heart as the first anime I saw, late night on CH4. It reminded me of what a pile of crap Blood+ is. A stupidly long series full of every horrible and childish anime cliché possible. Whereas Blood: TLV is just 'straight up gangster.'

Jonathan Creek - 4/5
Been watching some of this before bed every night. Most shows like this are forgotten and seem quite dreadful years later, not Creek. It still holds up today as far as I'm concerned. There isn't a whole lot of mystery and it doesn't exactly provoke thought because they put everything in front of you. But it is very well made and very entertaining. What I particually like is the inclusion of lots of quality actors and actresses n each episode that really play their roles rather than the usual riff-raff of extras in most crime dramas.

I'd love to watch the short film version of Hana and Alice... but my K-disc has no English subs for it.

I have a script (can't share on pain of castration) but you don't really need one even for the new scenes. It's all visual especislly when you know what's going on already.

I didn't mind the dubbing actually. And it's one of those situations where the fact that it's in English makes more sense, seeing as how the main cast are American.

Superman Returns - 2/5
$260.000.000 budget? WTF?! I have to admit that visually, the film is stunning. But apart from that it just showed me (again) why I hate Superman so much. He's just Mr. Perfect. Things fall down everywhere and he catches them. I could never identify myself with Superman and David Carradine told us why in "Kill Bill Vol. 2". Because unlike Spider Man and Batman, his costume are the clothes of a human being. He was born with super powers. Spider Man became what he is and still has a lousy life IRL and Batman doesn't even have super powers at all.

The 2 points go out for Kevin Spacey's wonderful performance and the visuals. Would have been 2.5 if they gave Spacey more screentime.

For what it's worth, the film bombed and the execs are unsure of going ahead with a sequel.

Is bombed good or bad? When we use that term in German, it usually means it was a success. Does it mean it flopped in English?

Yes. At least in NZ & Aussie, I have no idea about in UK or US.

Instead of watching an Asian masterpiece, I wasted my time with watching the desastrous Austrian team loosing against Hungary 1:2.
What an awful football match that was!

Sinful Asians is good, but I wouldn´t describe it as a masterpiece.
Personally I like the 2nd part more...

Can I borrow your DVD? :D

Supes has been a disappointment, but I wouldnt say it bombed.

Miami Vice - 3/5

Thought this was pretty good, I could understand about 80-90% of the dialogue like Brad, the plot was confusing though. I liked the dark and gritty style and there were some great shots, but like the Guardian said it was nothing to do with the TV show, just a cop thriller with 2 guys who happened to be called Crockett and Tubbs :D No 80's soundtrack (though there was a cover of a Phil Collins song at the end). When is the film set? Farrell looked like an 80's Mel Gibson :D

Gong Li is nice IMO, quite pretty :)

Pale Rider

American western, with star, producer, director Clint Eastwood.
It´s completely different than the spaghettis... The camera concentrates more on the (beautiful) landscapes than on dirty faces and eyes. It hasn´t got such a great music and is by far not so stylish. Sometimes it almost feels like a sentimental film in idealized regional setting, but it has got something special. An atmosphere that is different from the atmosphere in Leone´s westerns, but is there.
And somehow the storyline even reminded me of Seven Samurai (poor villagers fighting against a superior enemy. Eastwood symbolises the 7 Samurai. He stabilizes the villagers and gives them back their confidence. "Together you´re strong"...)
The finale, between Eastwood and the villian is disappointing.
The movie is okay, but not more than average.

Mark/Sam have you seen Along Come (Came?) The Tiger? The film was OK but rather boring in places, I liked the final fight though :)

The picture quality was crap (the trailer looks even worse) and the disc features English and Mandarin soundtracks, trailer and producer commentary.

Yeah, Along Come a Tiger wasn't up to much.

Pale Rider was quite good, but started better than it finished.
