Due to hit -5 up here on Friday. I think it was even colder than that last week.

Apparently the lowest ever Scot temp was in Jan 1982 at -27.2 (Aberdeen).

Forecast says the temp could get down to -20 in Scotland by Friday (I think). We had quite a bit of snow today, some heavy (for the South)

Apparently the lowest recorded temp in Finland (Kittilä) ever was in 1999 at a ball-shatteringly freezing -51.5. Fuck me, that's cauld!

Almost lost my girlfriend today

Just got a call from her that she and her family are in the hospital, after a pretty serious car-crash. Luckily, she is quite shaken and beaten up, but OK. Mother has some facial injuries but also nothing to serious it seems. Sister also nothing REALLY serious, it seems. Her aunt though, who was also in the car, is strapped in completely, probably seriously injured

Accident was caused by the bad weather we're having, obviously. Everywhere it's snowing and ice, so it's slippery, but you would think the highways would be OK to drive on. Anyway, they slipped and crashed off the highway with about 100-120 km's per hour, into a ditch.

Will visit her tomorrow.

Yeah, it's kinda scary to hear how close it can get to losing someone you love.

On the other hand, I'm just very very happy they are (mostly) OK. Apart from their aunt, who will hopefully make a quick recovery but I know little/nothing about her actual injuries, they all seem to walk away from it relatively unharmed, while it was a very serious accident (car totalled, big crash).

They were driving behind their niece/nephew and kids, so also happy they didnt crash, cause you absolutely don't want kids to go through this, or worse.
