Yeah you're crafty sod alright! 8) Anyway thanks m8, if you watch a few more Japanese/South Korea films during the next game you'll probably be unbeatable!
if you saw what I have in my too watch-pile here, you would know I'm a lost cause when it comes to Japan or South Korea. Do an intervention if you will, I'm fuckin' staying!
Now...where is my laserdisc of HONEYMOON IN JAKARTA?...

Have we got any members who live near Sweden and are big & mean enough to give Ken an intervention? Anyone? :blackeye:
Knete is "Lord of the losers" again, and Mark rejoins the podium for the second time.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".
Well... technically, Yi-Long did take part in the third championship.
He scored 3 points overall.
I suggest we take a short break (24/48h), try to discuss the rules a bit (see if we can't make it more interesting), and we'll start Season 4 in a new thread in a couple of days.

Well I've observed that some rounds were dead slow due to either:
a) The winner taking too long to post a 2nd or 3rd screengrab
b) The winner failing to post a screengrab at all.
This can get irritating and completely spoils the flow of the game. If it weren't for someone resurrecting the thread, the game would've been lost completely.
We have time limits just now yeah? I think we should stick to them more strictly and as soon as it goes over, someone (anyone - whoevery's lucky to be online there and then) just post an easy grab to get the flow starting again. They should use their own initiative.
Also I propose that anyone winging about the winner posting another "obscure" HK/Japanese/Indian/[insert country of origin here] film should automatically have 10 points deducted for moaning.
The game's meant to be a laugh but to have someone whine just pisses everybody off. It's just not good sport.

If we do that, Mark might end up with a below zero score at the end of the 4th season.

Yeah, it's just supposed to be a fun game. I'm not online enough to play seriously, but it's fun when I do stop by and recognize the film grab.
That being said, I'll say my mini complaint while we're between games.
If it says in the rules that naming the country of origin is not required, don't have a hissy fit when someone chooses NOT to give the country. It probably means it would make the guess a little too easy.
Oh, and congratulations, Shingster! :occasion7:
A well-deserved win.

DVD Mystère is very simple: Post a screenshot from a movie -> Guess the movie.
Posting:
1. The player who's won the previous round has to post a screenshot from a movie (no TV shows, no deleted scenes, no trailers, no posters, no production stills: it's gotta be an actual screenshot from an actual movie).
2. The country of origin has to change between each round.
3. Asian movies are preferred, but not mandatory.
-Well-known movies are preferred, but not mandatory.
4. When you post a screenshot, you must give a clue concerning the country of origin. Sometimes, however, giving this clue can make it too easy (in which case you can choose not to do it).
5. A minimum resolution of 640x360 is recommended.
-Avoid posting a screenshot that contains spoilers (key characters dying, etc...).
-Make sure the title of the movie is not contained in its filename or URL.
Guessing:
- Only 3 guesses per player are allowed.
You'll get 3 points if you win with 1 guess.
You'll get 1 point if you win with 2 or 3 guesses.
- A player can guess again only after the current gamekeeper has replied.
- The winner becomes gamekeeper for the next round.
- In case 2 players win at the same time (same minute), they will each get one point.
**If the gamekeeper notices that the players can't find the movie, he should post a clue or a new screenshot (approx. 12h after posting the first shot).
**If a movie has several titles in english-speaking countries, any of those titles are accepted. However, the only valid AKAs are the ones that can be found on hkmdb.com , imdb.com and hkflix.com databases.
Obscure AKAs will not be regarded as valid.
The first player to reach 100 points wins.

I would say include the 10 points deduction for moaning, seriously!
Have no problems otherwise. We got through this round, yea?
EDIT: Concerning guesses of series (Raped By An Angel, Friday The 13th etc etc), guesses that cover the entire series (meaning it's above 3 guesses) are cancelled out or how should the game keeper handle it?
I think the current rules are perfect as is, and that moaning should be allowed as we all feel like a good gripe at some point during the game. The moaning would probably be cut down a lot if players beared in mind that relentlessly posting singularly from the little niché area of world cinema that you're a particular fan/expert of can be incredibly frustrating for many of the other players. That's not to say don't post grabs from specialist genres, but just mix it up a little more, get a bit more variety and hopefully it'll keep the game free flowing.
Besides, anyone who moans is shot down fast anyway.

Yeah I reckon the current rule of 3+ films = no points should be applied when people nominate long film series.
what about when the guesser assumes they are right and posts a grab before its confirmed they are correct. that just fucks up the game slightly and confuses people...
Judging from the comments, it would seem that people are generally against moaners. Aside from Shingster, who's in a very leniant mood. But I agree with his comments on mixing it up - I've tried to include Indian, Japanese, Korean and US films.
Personally I'd welcome a penalty, alright it doesn't have to be 10 points but 3 or something would be reasonable. Keeps this thread free of miserable sods.

Well, that can easily be cut out if people find it that confusing, but from my experience in the last game no-one did this unless they were 100% sure they were right and they weren't sure if they'd have a chance to post a grab in the next 24hrs or so.
