Yes I did but I don't think I'll bother anymore.
They still don't feel like proper Dr. Who episodes and are so stupid in places, maybe they always have been but it bothers me now. The scripts are mostly awful too.
Tonight's episode was fairly good.

I like it.grim_tales wrote:Why is there a "Next Time" preview thing at the end though? It doesnt spoil much but it just ruins the tension!

i watched this episode, the first one ive seen of the new series. it looked and felt like something that should have been on childrens tv in the late 90s. staggeringly bad plot, awful jokes (iraq joke in doctor who??!!), awful script. the guy that plays the doctor (cant remember his name!) must have to cry himself to sleep each night.

I agree Mordib some of the gags are cheesy but I like this series doesn't take itself too seriously at times
I know what you mean by the CBBC thing though at times..
Originally though Dr. Who *was* designed for children but enjoyed by adults also.
It has to be something both can enjoy.
I am getting annoyed by Rose's mothers' whining "Can you promise my daughter will be safe.. don't take advantage of her" etc... AARGHH!
The Dr. is too rude to Rose's boyfriend too and should give him a chance, he did help them in this episode.

LOL that's the whole point. The Doctor is rude and arrogant to humans as he thinks himself better but strangely has affection for them.grim_tales wrote:The Dr. is too rude to Rose's boyfriend too and should give him a chance, he did help them in this episode.
I do think they're spending to much time on Rose's back story. They didn't spend any on previous assistants. It would be nice if they explained some more of the Doctors back story.

I only caught the last half but was truly amazed at how good this was.
The script for once was very well written. This was the first time Eccleston was given a chance to really act, showing a depth to the Doctor we've never seen before.
It's a pity going by the summary of next weeks episode the show is going back to the pap we've seen before. The two part Alien invasion episode was truly awful, the script was dreadful. Put simply it was a joke.
Even though showing the Daleks in a light we've never seen before paid off I hope their return means we gets a big bad ass onslaught next time!
I must also add how a pleasure it is in a CGI laden world to not see it over used for once . It's great to see the creators of Dr. Who are still using old fashioned mechanical machines.
p.s - Bring back the Cybermen!

They aired the 2nd episode last week in NZ. Much much better than the cheap as fuck pilot.
Billy Piper is damn hot (christ, her pop music from back in the day was atrocious) and Christopher Eccleston is doing a decent job IMO.
I'm starting to warm up to this show, never saw Dr Who prior except for the dire US series pilot.

US Pilot - WTF? When was that released? I don't think it made it's way to the UK OR do you mean the TV movie which was set in America?
You're only on episode 2 I'm sure the DVDs are due out in Australia soon. Wait until you get to the first Dalek episode OMG it's the BEST Dr. Who episode ever created, it has so much power and goes places Dr. Who has never dared go before. Christopher Eccelston really gets a chance to act in this episode.
It's a pity overall I found the series weak. I'd buy just this episode if I could but I don't like episodes around it. Wait until you get to the 2 part alien invasion episode that's a right stinker. I could write a better script.
I won't say anymore as I don't want to spoil it for you. Billie Piper is pretty good looking but I wouldn't say damn hot no. Pretty is the word I'd use. She's no Monica Belluci.
p.s - Tom Baker is still the best Doctor (and probably always will be).
