Sam it is a superb game, amzingly good and easily people will get their cash out of Call of Duty games if they play it, even if they pay £30 a pop (still thats if you like that sort of thing).
300,000 PC sales if nothing at all compared to selling well over 6 Million! on the Consoles. As people cannot "Do" copies on consoles very well, they do not get pirated as much, but I can understand why PC versions may well stop in the future with dismal sales like that compared to the mighty underpowered consoles.

Markgway wrote:The BPI and the record companies still don't get it. If you try to rip the public off with over-inflated prices don't be surprised if they rebel by downloading.
How exactly are they ripping anyone off? I pay the least I have ever paid for CD's nowadays, brand new CD's for what? I pay around £6 on release. If they are over inflated, then I have no idea what you want to pay.

I think there is nothing at all wrong with CD prices. The amount of entertainment you get from a good CD is well worth IT even a tenner (which you would be hard pushed to pay anyway). I have listened to some of my best albums many hundreds of times, that is value for money. If someone buys a shit album and sticks it on once, then maybe that is not exactly value for cash, but that is their fault for buying shit music in the first place. There is no excuse nowadays for buying any album unheard, plenty of legal sites can let you listen to all the tracks and decide if you liKe it.

It has bugger all to do wth the massive companies making millions either in my eyes, tiny artists are pirated like crazy, people who do not make much cash at all. Hence why so many now have to stop making music and get other jobs, as they cannot even get contracts and even get an album made anymore becuase of joke low sales in stores and online (but people still download their albusm like crazy). If you cannot see that I wont even go into it any more.

Still Yes the famous artists may well draw in cash for them and their owners, but you are deluded if you think that is the majority of artists out there all making millions, or even plenty to keep them going on making more music.

All the time. But I am not so stupid as to moan about it loudly everywhere I can and think it is my right of mankind. Like it is the only way to get anything, there i9s a thing called cash we can pay for these things with! Then keep on doing it even when you get a letter from your ISP saying you will be cut off, then moaning saying its my right! its my right! You cannot do that!!! well if you had never done it, you would not be cut off!
If you take the chance of downloading something, then you have zero right to moan at all when you are cut off etc.. I wouldnt dream of even letting out a moan if they cut me off today, as I deserved it if I even downloaded one thing, let along thousands a week.

I end up buying pretty much everything I download, unlike the massive majority who never ever will. I would not moan on like a baby if they stopped all the illegal dodgy sites, most would and would go mental at the thought of paying cash for a single CD, never mind the 600 they have downloaded over the years in their collections.

It reminds of of people who Speed in cars.
If I was caught speeding I would be ashamed and would take it like a man that I did it, I would not say a word to complain that I was done for it as I knew going in that if I speed I may get done for it.

Most people who get caught speeding piss about and moan like children thinking it is their right and they are not in the wrong and think it is an injustice they were caught and punished. They knew going into a car if they speed, they could be done.

The distributor (i.e - the BBC) will be able to restrict whether we can make no copies, one copy or multiple copies of a particular program, on to Blu-ray. I'm pretty sure down-converting to SD for DVD has no restriction. Most are going with the one copy or multiple copy approach.
Markgway wrote:If you try to rip the public off with over-inflated prices don't be surprised if they rebel by downloading.
I completely agree, although there is now a big percentage who anything above nothing is too much.
Markgway wrote:The most downloaded artists (the ones who supposedly lose millions in sales) are the ones who get paid millions; the executives who complain loudest are the ones who get the biggest cut of the profits.
Exactly. I have no sympathy. They're mostly all freaking millionaires, big fucking deal.
Markgway wrote:Do I feel guilt over these massive conglomerates who would fuck the public in the ass if they thought it would make them an extra buck? Not in the slightest.
Me too.

Shops still charge much more.
romerojpg wrote:there is a thing called cash we can pay for these things with!
I'm still waiting for an answer, on how I'm supposed to get hold of rare content, never released officially? Of which there is PLENTY.
romerojpg wrote:Then keep on doing it even when you get a letter from your ISP saying you will be cut off
I don't imagine most will be getting a letter.

As you don't drive, you won't understand this but there are hundreds of speed cameras put there just to make money. They're not put in places that need a speed camera. I do take your point generally though and obviously many cameras are put in areas that need them too. Those I have less problem with.

Most dual carriageways, are "national speed limit". Which means 60 for a single lane road and 70 for a dual lane (i.e - dual carriageway) or motorway. There is a dual carriageway just down the road from me, that is 50 (and has speed camera). There is literally NO REASON it needs to be this low, it's a very open dual carriageway, for christs sake. It wouldn't make any difference but I'd sure as hell moan if got caught speeding, this one is a clear example of the local council just wanting to make money.

Incidentally I have been caught once (doing 35 in a 30) and I was sent on a "speed awareness" course. The whole course concentrated on speeding in a 30 mph zone, why? Because most accidents happen here and frankly I agree with this one. It's so dumb to speed where it's 30mph. A kid, dog or whoever is much more likely to walk out than a motorway.

Back on topic:

The trouble with CD prices isn't the price though, it's the fact for a big percentage, they've simply got used to getting it free.

I read about the outlines of it, the Wi-Fi thing is stupid, if you use an internet cafe and download free stuff, the cafe owner could be held responsible?!?

STOP BEING A FUCKING KNOW IT ALL! YOU HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT ME AT ALL, IN ANY WAY! EVER!

I HAVE BEEN DRIVING LONGER THAN YOU, MY ENTIRE ADULT LIFE YOU MUPPET.

You have zero idea about speed cameras at all, and you are a total idiot and got caught speeding so there goes any respect for your dire driving skills. Speeders kill people, that is a fact yet you still were speeding, well done. Saying 10 miles an hour makes zero difference, well your just a fool from top to bottom.

Firstly, calm the fuck down. Secondly you told me once you couldn't drive and got the bus to work. Obviously I didn't know you've since passed your test, so clearly I don't know everything about you, heaven forbid. Thirdly, are you sure you've been driving your entire life? You muppet.

I sped, got caught and "did the time". Weren't you the one who said you'd "take it like a man"? Clearly, one rue for one and one for another.

Show me where the fuck I said that?

I'm quiet happy to have a healthy debate but if your way of debating is just to belittle someone, then go fuck yourself.

What in Gods name are you going on about  I have been driving for neary 15 years

I also said driving my entire "Adult" life YOU MUPPET, not life. Unless you were an adult when you popped out

Read what people write and take it in, as you are doing a piss poor job at the moment. You keep on constantly saying things to me (and many oither people I notice) that are just totally and utterly wrong, as if you have a book on everything people say and do, and obviously your book is wrong from front to back.

If tiny artists are pirated like crazy then how can they be tiny artists? Dowloading created the careers of many of today's success stories.

The BPI don't give two shits about these people. All they care about is the millions they might have lost on the last U2 album.

£6 for any new chart CD? Where do you shop?

You talk so much bullshit Romero. It's no wonder people struggle to believe you but point taken about "adult life", my mistake.

Exactly! Sure some do struggle because of piracy but boy it's helped many a career too.

£5-7 is about right for chart CDs online. Check out: www.bangcd.com, www.cd-wow.com, www.play.com, www.amazon.co.uk.

A clear gulf between online and instore (where many people, particularly older people without net access, still buy their music as a first port of call). We can move on from CDs to Blu Rays... the prices in HMV are extortionate I swear I've seen standard films marked up as high as £35. If you know where to look for a real bargain that's great.... but many don't.

OAPs aside I think we've got to the stage the majority of the people in the UK are able to buy CDs online. Amazon is a household name. I'm actually surprised you didn't know about online CD prices. I agree in general though.

It makes it even more obscene HMV charge so much. Particularly for like you say, blu-rays. They are nothing short of obscenely overpriced. Sure they have bigger outlays but come on, that much? No way, you're ripping us off. Simple.

I dont even know if you havin a laff or not. If no one buys any of your music and pays no cash for it and ONLY downloads it illegally, how exactly do you expect them to make a living.

A few of my favorite artists have gone under and cannot even get an album off the ground due to being pirated to death and they know it will happen with their next album so no one invest a penny on them anymore. For every person who "breaks out", there are more going under and giving up as there is no cash in it anymore to even get any music made.

What kind of a Tool buys anything in HMV stores  Pretty much everyone now has the net, it is cheaper, use it. If you do not, you deserve everything that comes to you and to be ripped off BIG time. Morons buy things in stores before checking prices online, I have zero pity for any of them. If people cannot hold their wallets while in a store seeing all them shiny things and even knowing they are cheaper online and yet still buying them because wow look its in front of me, well they can pay over the top prices as they are dumb fucks.

You've told me in the past "you cannot drive and get the bus to work" and "you've never been abroad". It was many moons ago, so obviously things have changed.

Because that simply doesn't happen. There will always people who pay, maybe making up for the rest.

How have things changed haha I have been going on Holidays and Driving before I ever went on the net or any forum in my life, so you really are talking out of your bum

Yeah "some" pay (like Me!), but not even close enough numbers paying cash to keep certain artists going, hence why many have gone forever or had to go into semi retirement as they have bugger all funds to get albums off the ground. Nobody will invest in them at all!

You must only watch "The top 40 Charts" if you have not seen certain artists go over the last few years, becuase Piracy has killed off many, and some may well never ever get back to making music anymore. When your album sells a few thousands units, yet is downloading hundreds of thousands of times, obviously that makes you fuck all cash for the next album and you show zero profits for any company to go near you.

It does happen, you just have zero clue about it, as you are fixated on the big artists who sell millions.
