Paedophilia refers to a sexual interest in pre-pubescent children (roughly 12 and under; though girls can start puberty as young as 10 they don't really start to develop as young women until about 12).
For pubescents (roughly 13-15) adult sexual interest is called Hebephilia. Ephebophilia is sexual interest in adolescents (say 16-17)
There's bound to be some overlap.
By making the man in the 1962 LOLITA sexually interested in a girl of 14 it means he's no longer a paedophile because she's a developing young woman. I think in the book the girl is 12 and so considerably more childlike (and thus he's probably a paedophile).
