Ashes to Ashes series 2 news update:

http://www.denofgeek.com/television/114 ... pdate.html

I'm not sure when it was posted as there's no bloody date. Does anyone know when Series 2 is coming? I cannot wait.

Rumours are rife over at Digital Spy that Series 2 will have a character from Life on Mars.

Which character from Life of Mars could be returning? Which "other" one could there be as most of the supporting characters are from LOM anyway.
A surprise appearance/cameo by John Simm perhaps? Liz White? Test Card Girl?

Most on DS seem to be saying Annie but yes Simms would be very cool, maybe in Series 3 though.

I thought it started off slowly but was great by the end. A lot darker than expecting but also hilarious at times too. Keeley Hawes as usual was excellent, although I prefer her Series 1 hair. I still much prefer this to Life on Mars.

I thought that episode was teriffic and can't wait for next week. It was so much better Gene and Alex appear to be on an equal footing now and the wisecracks and smugness have been totally absent from Alex.
How creepy was Doctor Death?! Brad did you notice when they switched Weakest Link on the TV?
How does Dr. Death know Alex is in 1982? He seems to know about the future (eg Diana's death).

I heard some. I'm sure they'll return.

I did. What's your point?

More to the point, who is Doctor Death?

Oh there were some one liners - but what I mean is Alex almost played her character straight and far less knowing this time round.

Indeed, who is Doctor Death (that creepy surgeon)? I wondered if showing The Weakest Link means this - the surgeon is trying to make Alex's LINK with 1982 WEAKER by trying to kill her (OK that was terrible) :D
Dr. Death had an Irish accent and seems to know Alex is in 1982, and about the future. Maybe he is a policeman who Alex barred from the force due to mental issues?

What's yours? The X-Factor or Big Brother maybe?

IF not "the" TV event of 2010, it will sure come close. Besides you've never even seen it, so don't have a clue.

You mean the USA remake right? No. It interests me not. I only found the original Life on Mars pretty good. I've not bothered with Series 2. I may one day.

if in october 2009 you have already decided the third series of a tired tv show is going to be the tv event of 2010 then it shows how shit british tv really is.

How? It's fantastic writing, good acting and a whole lot of fun.

Give us a chance :D. How weird I came to Bullets to comment on it and you already had.

It was good, a solid episode but I'm pleased this is the last series. It's become formulaic but at least British execs know when a show has run it's course. A third series is fine, a fourth would be a bad idea. Keeley Hazel is still posh totty.

I cannot wait to see how they connect the two shows together.

Some parts of Ep6 brilliant (the "Sam Tyler" stuff), that was really creepy and even though it wasnt John Simm, the actor did a great job of "playing" Sam Tyler.. the expressions, the mannerisms.

What did you think of the final episode Grim?

SPOILERS!

Overall I really enjoyed it but I did think it betrayed the character they've spent the past 5 series created a little. We've built up respect for Gene as The Guv'ner and now we're told he's actually just a 20 year old copper. It did allow for some dramatic scenes though.

Having Nelson's pub as the gateway to Heaven was clever and Hunt as the Gatekeeper, with Keates as the Devil. I had a feeling they were all dead but didn't know how Gene was connected.

What do you mean? It wasn't Sam Tyler. Unless I've missed something.

Thats why I used speech marks. He wasnt really Sam Tyler.
Some great moments in the ep that was ever so sad in places. Shaz's death was so sad, because she's the youngest and most recent of all of them and closest to my age :(
I liked the use of the pub as Heaven - genius. And did you notice a repeated LOM line?
"Pub?"
"Pub?"
"Pub?"
"Pub!"

:D

I'm surprised Alex accepted her death so readily though considering she's spent 3 seasons wanting to get home to Molly. That got to me a bit and it felt a bit weird having some of it be Gene's fantasy (of being a sherrif) IMO. But eventually, I think Gene will be reunited with Alex and co. even though they showed it all starting again with a new guy

You misunderstand. He wasn't playing Sam Tyler. Sam's not been shown in Ashes to Ashes. Unless I missed something?
