Reservoir Dogs wasnt as it only cost $1.5 million, it made that back in the UK alone (I saw it in the cinema back then). None of his films can be counted as a flop yet, as Video, TV and DVD always make his films masive amounts of cash.EvaUnit02 wrote:Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs were flops.sky75 wrote:it flopped, no shit! I thought everything Tarantino touched turned to gold in the US.
Only Grindhouse so far seems a little odder than usual, not even sure if it will make the $150 million it cost to make and promote it, maybe in a year or two after DVD sales
Shame we in the UK may have to wait over a year after america to see Planet terror in cinemas!

Ok, I suppose I could understand how some naive individual would think Jackie Brown was a flop based on the fact that most Tarantino fans consider it is "lesser" effort and it didn't quite blow the world away at the box office like Pulp Fiction did, but what crack have you been smoking to think Reservoir Dogs was in any way shape or form a flop?EvaUnit02 wrote:Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs were flops.
Reservoir Dogs: Budget = $1.2million, Worldwide Gross = $22million ($2.8million Domestic Gross)
Jackie Brown: Budget = $12million, Worldwide Gross = $84.4million ($39.6million DOmestic Gross)
In summation: Jackie Brown & Reservoir Dogs = Not flops.

Many people say films flop when they have only been out in america, as hell america is the world to most people
Most films in the end always make cash I say, even the biggest cash loosers of all time made a tonne in reality when you aDd up everything to do with it (Vids, Dvds. TV Sales, pay per view, muisic, games and crap)
Kill Bill for instance, imagine how much cash that suckers made by now
most people own the dvds, I own swords, cds and crap like that too
they have had a lot out of me and will get more when they pull their fingers out and shower us with a new DVD set for the film
I wish there was a reliable source out there which added together all the cash films make, IMDB is ok, but very wrong a lot of the time and really dont go into much detail as to how many units they shift on Dvd and how much profit they made in the end etc..

yes I would love to know that too . I've often wondered how many DVDs a TV show or movie has sold in the various countries around the world.wish there was a reliable source out there which added together all the cash films make, IMDB is ok, but very wrong a lot of the time and really dont go into much detail as to how many units they shift on Dvd and how much profit they made in the end etc..

yup it would be nice to know, as a lot of studios acctually lie, or supress actual figues.
I remember Final Fantasy The Spirits Within, a film reportedly costing $200+ million by the makers, then it flopped so hard it scared them and they instanty changed the figure to about half of that what they said it cost
then the dvds came out and it was gigantic on dvd and I think the top selling title that year! and they raised the budget again
gota love them people. the net brings up so many false figures, or messed with figures its hard to beleve a word they say

Because thats when its coming out, March next year at the earliest. They are leaving 6 months betwen Death Proof and Planet Terror
UK gets shafted hard. We will all have them on DVD by then.
and Brad its will and has flopped, it wont make its cash back even worldwide, and its out in a few countries now and isnt making cash as the one film or two. No way its gonna make $150 million worldwide in cinemas, not a chance in hell.

Romero weren't you talking about the film originally being one film, it flopped and so they released it into two films, right? (that's what you seem to say above anyway) If so my point was that there has been no release of it in one film so how could it flop?
That's what I meant, not that the two cuts haven't flopped as I've no idea on that front.
Confused.
p.s - So has some version already been released and I completely missed it?

Now they are breaking it up for most countries (including america) and trying it again, but again its not doing so well either it seems. Hey as long as its good I dont care if it makes cash, its just a shame they aint brining the full Grinhouse film out in UK
I see Amazon list Kill Bill as NC17, solid info there

It was released theatrically in America as one film. All the mainstream tards left the cinema after Planet Terror, thinking that the film was over and thus they all missed Death Proof. How could you not know this?bradavon wrote:Romero weren't you talking about the film originally being one film, it flopped and so they released it into two films, right? Breaking it up for all countries actually.romerojpg wrote: Now they are breaking it up for most countries
The good thing is that the new cut of Death Proof includes one of my favourite scenes (the b/w scene, which apparently wasn't in Grindhouse). But the fake trailers are nowhere to be found, argh...

Death Proof was the second most watched film in Finland two weeks ago when it opened, and last weekend it was number 3. And Planet Terror is still to come.romerojpg wrote: trying it again, but again its not doing so well either it seems.
Not that it will make that much money but it may not be a total flop in the end.
