Faye says she thought she'd be "raped and killed" and was stripped etc - well that was what was printed anyway... its likely she was told what to write in her letters. Kidnappers often do this.
Frankly I don't believe a word of it. I think they're just coming out with this stuff now in an attempt to save face rather than be recognised for the cowards they are. There's not a single piece of evidence to suggest that the sailors were in any way maltreated. No bruises, no psychological damage. Just an eagerness to profit from "exclusive" stories. More pictures and video has been released by Iran showing the captives playing table tennis and clowning around. Heroes, my arse!

I'm not claiming theyre heroes Mark, but still - it was said on the news that there was something fishy about the letters. The Iranians are saying "Look how nice we are" :?

Rebecca Loos last time I checked was not a representative of the British Armed Forces. What she does is her concern and her's alone. These sailors work for "us" the British people. It is our concern when they try to cash in on a dubious military incident mere DAYS after it ended. We're not talking about the writing of memoirs a decade down the line here but currently active military personnel. When these sailors retire they can do what they like (though it would still be 'selling out' in my opinion to run to the tabloids). Andy McNab writes semi-fictional books about the SAS; hardly the same kettle of fish is it? Unfortunately at least two of the sailors have gotten their money already and once again Britain (the Navy, the MOD) has come out of this rather badly.

The only fishy thing about those confessional letters is how quickly and willingly the sailors wrote them.

Whatever happened to name, rank and number?
