I highly doubt that anyone here has. Considering how lousy the sequels are supposed to be, Battle receiving the worst trashings.
Try asking here.

Not films :) Andromeda Season 1 2 3 4 and 5 :D 50 dvds. I already have season 1 2 and 3, but its cheaper to buy them all again in the big set as single seasons are 25-30 quid each! :D and sell my old ones. That way it will end up costing very little.

They're a very mixed bag. I love them all but some are fairly lousy to some very good.

"Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" for example is generally considered the best sequel, it's dark, futuristic and IMO very good.

The only really lousy one tbh is the last one but I still think it has a charm. People must love them to fork out for the Ultimate 14 disc edition.

I do find it odd no on in the UK has upgraded and been able to compare.

I'm going to plump for the Legacy box set regardless of seeing reviews of not as my UK R2 box set is pretty old now and virtually bare-bones bar the excellent 2Hr documentary.

I'd want it OR the Bergman Fanny & Alexander collection though which could make it tricky to get that in future without a customs charge. £40+ in one go is to much for me. The Bergman Fanny & Alexander collection can wait.
saltysam wrote:is it just me or are their prices not much cop :? even with the 20% off the savings are negligible on most items i've looked at compared to pacific.
Nope, it's a poor excuse for a sale.
romerojpg wrote:I bought a 50 dvd box set :) fingers crossed all the dvds are in perfect shape! for 50 quid its a bloody bargain! even with customs.
My god I never knew they made box sets that big.
romerojpg wrote:Saviing 1 or 2 pound is great, if you have to much cash to care about a few pound thats good for you. I want to save all I can, not throw cash away.
Fair point but tbh my point was I'd be buying DVDs I don't otherwise want considering I'm at my monthly limit so the saving would have to be much greater than £1, especially when the DVDP price is their normal non-sale price.

Yes if you order enough customs doesn't really come into play as you're saving cash anyway but tbh few people are interested in spending the kind of money you do on DVDs. I for example am moving out in April (BIG cost), then there is my twice yearly holiday much more important to me than a big ass sale tbh, plus bills, food etc . . .

I simply can't afford to go spending £100+ I could afford £50 easily but I'm not into TV shows which is where the big savings are and single film DVDs the savings are minimal.

The ironic thing Romero you think you're saving money but in fact you're not.

You save £1 here and £1.50 there but because of these minor savings you've ended up spending well over £100 where you wouldn't have otherwise.

EDIT: They can't even get POTA right:

$35.45/£18.55 at Amazon with no vouchers and $38.62/£20.21 at DDD with a 20% voucher. Which IMO is useless when the prices are higher than anywhere else anyway.

Rubbish sale moving on . . .

p.s - Thanks though seriously Eva for bringing it to our attention. FYI the old vouchers do work (at least DVDTALK does) as I used one to test the actual price difference.

Andromeda is utter shit. Cheap, poorly written and acted Canadian rubbish.

Anyway, grabbed:-
Gunslinger Girl Complete Collection
Boogiepop Thinpak Collection (complete anime series Boogiepop Phantom and live-action prequel film Boogiepop & Others)
Ray LE

I considering getting the Robert Rodriguez Mexico Trilogy (Remastered El Mariachi, Desperado and OUATIM 2-discer), which was cheap but opted for better value stuff instead. God knows if the Ray LE will ever go back in print again.

BTW they have the Scarface Deluxe LE in stock Brad.

Ray LE for an LE is lovely. I don't think it's worth the extra money though.

Agreed Andromeda is rubbish trash.
EvaUnit02 wrote:OUATIM 2-discer
Is 1 disc not 2.

I saw that thanks and if the PE didn't exist I'd snap it up but I'm no longer interested.

Andromeda rocks :D each to their own. Its 100 times better than trash like Dr Who! in every way, now that pure bile.

If the sales Crap like your saying.

Find Lost Season 2 and Prison Break cheaper elseqwhere for the UK, its not possible.

Just because you cannot find anything, definatly doesnt mean its a bad sale. Look harder, or maybe even take a chance and buy somehting blind.

I said "except TV Shows". TV shows don't interest me hence shit sale (IMO).

I also said mostly the difference elsewhere is minimal. For a sale to be decent I want titles to be AT LEAST £3 cheaper, not some piddly £1.

Show me a non-TV Show and especially non-box set with a decent drop. It can't be done. Almoldovar doesn't interest you and I'm not going to change your mind.

I just have: Fanny and Alexander: 5 Disc CC. I've never seen a Bergman film before. I went for it instead of POTA as that's cheaper at Amazon so no rush to get that one.

I've asked for Supes, Supes 2 and King Kong Uber Special Editions as they're a bit expensive so can't buy those myself.

It means I need to delay watching my Supes Returns so I can watch all 3 in order (pah to Supes 3 and Supes 4).

A big bruhaha in the DVDtalk thread. Apparently they jacked up the prices on a lot of TV DVD sets like the day before the sale started, arseholes.

LOL what really? I'd say they jacked up most of the prices.

Play did the same just before their £/1£5 voucher. I'm sure all £4.99 DVDs became £5.99.

No, they haven't. You're just still bitter over your shitty customs charges.

I got over that yonks ago. I'm bitter at a so called 20% sale being rubbish and mostly a waste of time.

You've bought a HD-DVD Player? :o
romerojpg wrote: :D Cheap as chips too.
Pity Combos aren't  . I have just pre-ordered "An American Werewolf in London" for £15.99 from MovieTyme though (all extras on both sides or at least DVD side anyway).

I decided it was too risky to pay £18.99 for "Lady in the Water" when it's been panned something rotten.

Sweet.

Is that .co.uk and the second generation model? Aren't the UK models missing the "crucial" analogue 5.1 outputs? I'm sure I read there were.

Meaning no HD Audio support, unless your amp happens to support them (which is unlikely when only a handful if any do). You'll get DD Plus downmixed to 640kbps but I'd want the full 1Mb (for those titles supporting it) and Dolby True-HD, DTS Master Audio etc . . .

All need HDMI, Firewire or Analogue 5.1 outputs.

p.s - Please post what you think when it arrives.
