FC cover art + confirmation of the only extra being an Intro here: http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/ ... sited.html

Yep I think I'll pick this up :D

I still think it should've been called "The Extended Director's Cut".

More details on
DVD times wrote: Warner Home Video have announced the UK Region 2 DVD release of Alexander Revisited: The Unrated Final Cut for 2nd April 2007. Featuring more than 45 minutes of never-before-seen footage, Oliver Stone’s Alexander can now be experienced as he meant it to be seen with this all-new unrated version which brings the film to a heightened level of realism and intensity.

The two-disc set features a new introduction by the director which reflects Stone’s passion and attention to detail in getting this film exactly the way he envisioned. Says Stone, “Over the last two years I have been able to sort out some of the unanswered questions about this highly complicated and passionate monarch -- questions I failed to answer dramatically enough. This film represents my complete and last version, as it will contain all the essential footage we shot. I don’t know how many filmmakers have managed to make three versions of the same film, but I have been fortunate to have the opportunity because of the success of video and DVD sales in the world, and I felt if I didn’t do it now, with the energy and memory I still have for the subject, it would never quite be the same again. For me, this is the complete Alexander, the clearest interpretation I can offer.”

Now restructured into two acts with an intermission, Alexander: Revisited takes a bolder, more in-depth look at Alexander’s (Colin Farrell) life and his relationships with his mother, Olympias (Angelina Jolie), his father Philip (Val Kilmer), his lifelong friend and battle commander Hephaistion (Jared Leto), Roxane, his ambitious and beautiful Bactrian wife (Rosario Dawson), and his trusted general and confidant Ptolemy (Anthony Hopkins). The new film intensifies the beauty and unbelievable brutality of Alexander’s pre-Christian world of social customs and morals so different from todays.

Spread over two-discs the film is presented in anamorphic widescreen with English DD5.1 Surround Sound. Beyond the new introduction by Oliver Stone there are no announced extras.

April :( . It's February on R1.

So in other words the DC is now no longer that and is just an Alternate Cut. Talk about confusing.

That is an odd one.

I suspect because he's recorded 1.5 commentaries already. I say 1.5 as it's clear Stone recorded one and then recorded different bits for each Theatrical and Director's cut where they differ.

I'd still opt for a 2 disc over 1 disc version but tbh for most films now a days I'm not really interested in extras. I never watch most anyway. To little time really.

p.s - It's not bare-bones. We get an Intro for what that's worth.

Thanks Salty.

It's only £10.75 from DVD Pacific. I've asked if CD WOW will stock this to see if I can shave a few quid off, not even Play are stocking it.

The reviewer is wrong and has gone with the myth the DC has less homosexual undertones (and overtones), they're the same.

I had a feeling this would be based on the Director's Cut and I'm sad to see this is true. The mucking about with the time line didn't work in the DC I can't see this changing it, but still I'm interested to see it.

Jolie and Kilmer are still way to young to be playing Farrell's parents but meh moving on.

It will be the 3rd cut and fourth DVD I've owned of Alexander :D , it must be a record for me.

I've owned:

* HK TC - Woeful PQ with DTS but because of that an annoying split right in the middle of a conversation

* R1 DC - Gorgeous PQ but I didn't much care for the new cut

* Korean TC - Along with the French DVD (which I hear looks better) it's the only TC to keep it all on one disc. The master they used should've been better though, it doesn't look as nice as the R1 DC. Rubbish extras too (except for the Stone commentary).
