About Project A:
Here's my take on the subject:

-Mars tried it first and it worked perfectly (that's the first take we see in the movie).

-The stuntmen decided to use a safer/thicker cloth for Jackie (maybe they thought Mars landed on the ground too fast). Jackie did the stunt but bounced off the cloth instead of going through. We see it in the outtakes.

-They replaced it with a thinner cloth for the third attempt, but Jackie went straight through without even slowing down. Being a trooper, he kept going and even continued with a dialogue scene during the same take (the second and final take in the feature film).
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

I noticed last time I watched Project A, that when Jackie's supposed to lift the bicycle up with his feet pushed up against the two walls, it's clearly someone else! Sammo Hung, I think. Tut, tut.
