I'm not 100% sure, but I think Rogue got her powers to fly (in the comics) after having 'stolen'/absorbed Ms Marvel's powers...
I believe Rogue used to be one of the bad guys in the comics, before she came over to the good side..

I love Jubilee in the comics. I have those Xmen comics when she first joined the team, and when she later accompanied Wolverine to the far east and all that.

Why does the Beast feature in X-Men 3? Because he's part of the team. Why do you ask?

In the time I still read comics regularly, Beast was one of the main members of the Avengers: not one of the Xmen. So thats where my confusion came from... although before that he also could have been a teammember of the 'Defenders'.

Beast was a main member in the X-Men cartoon series.

Rogue will get the power to fly from Phoenix in the film, I reckon.

Colossus had cameo during the raids on Xavier Institute in No. 2. He's features a lot more in the 3rd film though.

Why is beast in Xmen 3?

Singer actually had plans to include Beast in No. 1, but it proved either very technically difficult or cost ineffective to do so they gave the scientist qualities to Jean.

I'm glad that they're not including all that rubbish about aliens, the Shi'Ar Empire (where Xavier has "psychic sex" with their Empress) and Cyclops' & Havok's (the younger brother) parents being space pirates like they did in the Phoenix Saga of the cartoon.

Gambit was a favourite of mine, pity that he's been in none of the films (although "Remy LaBue" was listed in Stryker's mutant database in No. 2). Another fave of mine, Kitty Pryde is in No. 3 - so that's cool.

If you're not afraid of massive spoilers, than here ya go:-
Phoenix kills Xavier and Cyclops early on. Wolverine and Storm lead the X-men then. Wolverine kills Phoenix at the end.
A shame really, Paddy Stewart was one best things about these films.

I havent seen Xmen 2 yet, so I didnt know that Colossus was in pt. 2

I should check it out.

Yeah, I'm also glad they skipped that whole alien stuff. I never really like that outer-space crap in comics anyway. They hardly ever get it 'right'

Possible exception is the story of Superman (by John Byrne) when he's kidnapped by Darkseed. But that's because the story was good enough to warrant the outer space trip.
In X-men, also mostly found it ridiculous.

Kitty was also in Xmen 1 in a cameo. I never really liked her all that much in the comics. A lil bit to 'teeny'. I much prefer Jubilee, who's more 'boyish'.

...although... I believe there was a funny story once about the Xmen being turned into kids, by some big yellow alien, which was an entertaining story. not very much suited for a movie though...

Sorry, for some reason, that just brought to my mind that episode of Futurama where the gang get younger throughout, and specifically Professor Farnsworth turning into a '70's dude. "Dayum!"

Speaking of comics, Yi do you know if the "House of M" story-arc will be collected into a graphic novel? The concept of it sounded so interesting.

I saw X-Men: Last Stand last night and yes X2 is the strongest of the trilogy, it's also the most epic BUT my god people are being harsh.

It's considerably better then X-Men: Part 1. The action sequences I thought were great and Ratner adding in so many characters was great for the fans (like me). Vinnie Jones was out of place but I doubt many Americans know who he is anyway.

The central story of a Mutant cure was well written and developed too.

I didn't like killing off of so many characters core characters, especially Professor Xavier that was all wrong.

One of the biggest problems I had was the length. It was to short and this hurt the epic feel. Oh and why has Cyclops been relegated to a cameo? He was as big as Wolverine in the comics. He's barely in X-Men 3.

The Phoenix character was underused too, a missed opportunity. Considering she was all powerful would Wolverine's blades actually hurt her?

I loved how Ratner has closed it off to conclude the Trilogy but also left it open just enough if they want to make another X-Men film.

Ratner has a bad reputation, I think it's this that many are clinging on to. The film in many people's eyes was doomed to fail before they'd even saw it. Some are saying X-Men is better than X-Men 3, how they come to this conclusion is beyond me.

This is probably his strongest work yet.

Like I said Bryan Singer definitely did a better job with X2, that's so well written and some great action too but X-Men: Last Stand is still lots of fun.

I for one would love anther X-Men. It's always been one of the strongest superhero stories IMO. They're much better than the overrated Spider-man films.

7 out of 10.

Hey Eva. Didnt know about the story of M. Never even heard about it before. Just looked it up at Wikipedia, and it's a recent story-arc. I pretty much stopped reading comics about 14 years orso ago, and only recently just getting a bit back into it, although mainly just buying paperbacks/hardcovers.

I hope that IF they'd decide to make a 4th Xmen movie, they'll start the movie with them in the australian wastelands, living in an abandoned little village, with that aboriginal guy transporting them. That was the time I started really reading the Xmen comics.

Did you all stop till after the credits then? as the film hasnt ended until the credits have finished, so 99% of people have no even seen the end sequence as I am sure you all walked out before then.

I will be staying when I see it on saturday

even if they are 8 minutes long.

....

but on the credits, i stay to the end too, mainly cuz its too damn busy to leave during the credits and often films have little things at the end that are kinda cool :mrgreen:

M. Bison's fist smashes out of all the rubble that crashed on him after the base exploded. Guess a second part won't happen, though. And not because Raul Julia died after making this film.

Anyway, havent even ever decently watched the movie. just saw bits and pieces of it on TV and although I love the game and characters, and I like Van Damme, I just couldnt get myself to watch it. Gawd it looked so awfull. Honestly, they shouldnt have even released it. Dont these people have any selfrespect!?

Actually, it turns out that Xavier survives.. If you had actually bothered to stay after the credits like everyone was told to, then you would know that. The clip is on Youtube somewhere.

Wolverine has always been the most popular Marvel character after Spider-man. Most popular = most money and money talks.

that producer was Donner's wife. She's also one of the people that pushed hard to put Wolverine on a pedestal

This film incorporated the "Dark Phoenix" story arc from the comic, an arc where Scott Summers is the central protagonist.

looks pretty confirmed that Fox did replace Cyke in the dark phoenix story with Wolverine. SHowing just how dumb they are. Thats like having a movie about Jesus, and making John the baptist "Judas"

haha also apparently one of the producers in an interview said the reason they decided not to put Gambit in X-3, was because he was too similar with Nightcrawler. AHAHHAHAHHA! Not only is Nightcrawler not in X-3, but he has nothing in common with Gambit other than both using brown trenchcoats(tho Nightcrawler doenst wear his all the time like gambit does)

someone posted in that same thread that the reason Gambit was kept out was they didnt want another character pulling the spotlight off Wolverine. And how Wolverine had stolen all the elements of most of the X-men. Sex appeal of Gambit, nobility and leadership of Cyclops etc

First of all, Does anyone even LIKE Cyclops? Even in the comics? I mean, he's just a bit of a righteous, pretentious dickhead, isnt he? It's no wonder they cut back his screentime. He's just a pretty uninteresting character.

Wolverine, in the comics as well, is not really a 'leader', as in that he will tell others what to do, but he does take charge at times and goes his own way. He leads more by example, then by taking a position above the rest and telling them what to do.
But even in the comics he already had 'sex-appeal' to lots of women. And it's a different kind of sex-appeal then the one of Gambit and Nightcrawler, who are both slick & smooth. Logan is just a scruffy 'guy's guy'. A bit of an anti-hero. A bit of a Clint Eastwood character.

Personally, I never really found Gambit all that interesting. Looked a bit of a freak, and his powers also didnt seem all that special to me. I quite liked Nightcrawler in the 2nd movie, so I would have liked to see him return.

Gambit was in the original script. But they took him out of it when the actor didn't agree to play the role. They had the guy from "Lost" in mind who plays Sawyer. He wouldn't take the role of Gambit as he thought it was too similar to his Sawyer-characterisation.

Damn him. Sawyer is my favourite character in "Lost". Would have been great to sse the guy play "Gambit".

Also, what about Jubilee, the girl with the pole?
