I find Franz to be overrated. I kind like one or two of their stuff but not a huge fan.

Glasgow loves them.

Far too many bands are given too high a status by NME and other mags of that ilk. Franz Ferdinand, The Killers and the like have only a few good songs between them (The Killers have in Somebody Told Me a well produced-track, but the rest of their album is pants). Every other band is listed as being potentially Bigger Than Jesus.
It doesn't help the music industry curb piracy if these bands are the reason we're supposed to buy their music.

In general I agree with Kurgan.

Every new act is wildly overpraised as if to pretend music isn't worse than it was a decade ago and we won't notice.

Ok yes, rock was definitely better a decade ago. Grunge & Brit-pop was great, especially in comparison to garbage we have now with the garage rock revivalists (eg The Strokes, The Libertines, The Hives, The White Stripes), Post-grunge pop-rock (eg Creed, Nickelback, Seether) and nu-metal (eg Linkin Park, Staind, Slipknot).

There are some good ones also. From Finland alone bands like The Flaming Sideburns, Thee Ultra Bimboos, Sweatmaster, Micragirls & The Hypnomen are not bad at all.

Ba Yonga Wamba by Banaroo. By the sound, I'm guessing they're a bunch of deaf african gorillas banging on rusty garden furniture. And yet I'm hearing some kind of germanic accent in their voices. Weird...

I was getting so fucking sick of my little sister playing god awful Pop-Punk and Emo (Fallout Boy, My Chemical Romance, Panic at the Disco, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, etc) all the fucking time.

I just outright disabled the sound card on the computer that she uses most of the time.
