Blade Runner: Despite all I was lead to believe there is little difference between the Theatrical and Director's Cut but yes the Director's Cut turns it from a very good to outstanding film.
So this film is in the wrong section then :P

Yeah, but the director's cut is shorter, isn't it ?
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

It's shorter not by much but it's shorter The Theatrical Cut goes on a bit further showing Deckard and the replicant lady go off into the sunset, the DC cuts earlier so you don't know if she survives.

I honestly cannot remember about the running times on the various versions of Blade Runner, but I do know that the Director's Cut has had the Deckard voiceover removed and the ending changed. The original had this happy, lovey-dovey ending with Deckard and Rachael driving off into the sunset whereas Scott's original vision was something else...

It's not changed as such, the DC cuts earlier. So in a way the ending has been changed.

Holy Shit. I never ever thought someone would prefer the Theatrical Cut [of Leon]. When Leon and Matilda went on those hits, genius
Too comical for my taste. The better additional scenes were the darker ones, but as I said still not really needed. I would advise anyone who hasn't seen this checking out both versions and then deciding for oneself. Don't let anyone sway you with their opinion.

Of course agreed but comical wtf you have a weird sense of humour. The other scene mentioned previously also adds greatly to the film, that's not comical either.

p.s - I don't by the "French" print statement being better. The Columbia Tristar print is lovely.

Nah, it's too soft. Even the SB is too soft. The Asian prints are supposedly the best for Leon.
So long, and thanks for all the fish!

dvddecrypter-->dvdlabpro. It's the exact same process that I go through every time a add subs to a dvd. Only difference is that this time I decrypt two discs and select the audio and video from different sources when creating the dvd dvd.

Cheers. I use DVD Decrypter I'll have to give DVD Lap Pro ago. It's this one right? -

Did it need to be compressed by much to fit on a DVD-5?

Any news on the Tai Chi Master subs?

Not too much, I think.

Sorry, I've been quite busy lately. I have 803 lines ready. Should be finished by next weekend. I'm only doing one round, so it's not gonna be perfect, but pretty good nevertheless. The overall translation is low quality due to Universe's original subs that I'm using. But I did re-translate (by using the french script and a dictionary) a few lines that did not make any sense. Of course my english combined with a dictionary translation doesn't lead to the greatest quality, but believe me, it's better than the original subs.

Example: (a person who went insane first shows some signs of recovery, but then goes totally insane again). Michelle Yeoh says:
Universe: I am just a little hungry.
HK Video: Il ne va pas mieux.
Me: He's still insane.

Of course I can't be sure which translation is more accurate, but HK Video seems to make a lot more sense than Universe does. There were a couple of other similiar non-sense lines that I re-translated.

I was talking about the Korean DVD, which is supposedly the best available print-wise and feature-wise.

No worries, thanks for the heads up. I can easily wait.

Good to see you're using punctuation if you fix something (as in: He's) :)

I assume we're talking Leon? If so that's utter bollocks. Sure you may not like it but you make it sound like a bootleg.

I'm sure some people aren't happy unless they're moaning about some aspect of a DVD. The fact is very few DVDs are perfect but many are near it.

It's very good IMO and so do most think so.

How did this thread turn into "The Offiicial Leon Thread"?

Versus is one film which is better in its theatrical form. I didn't always believe this but now I do.

To be honest, the original is just mind blowingly awesome. It's pretty much perfect in a sort of retro, gory, kick ass way. The Ultimate Edition does does not add any dialogue (in fact, it actually loses a few lines), but only adds action segments and polishes up a few character introductions. In general, the Ultimate Edition is out to look more hip.

The fights are now extended but this is a negative aspect - the additional segments stick out like a badly inserted deleted scene. The final fight is now so long, it numbs the butt cheeks. There are also continuity errors, dead characters coming back to life wtf?

It was a redundant idea to polish a low budget film to make it look more modern.

I consider the theatrical version of Donnie Darko to be the "true" version. Director's Cut is nice also but I was quite happy with my outlook of the original. Now Kelly has given us more things to think about.

I've got the DC but I'm wanting to source the TC from somewhere.

Tom2681 wrote:The international cut of Volcano High is awful. All the good scenes are cut. The international version tries to make it look like an action film (it's a comedy).

I prefer the DC of Musa because it adds character development. In the International Cut, the action/dialogue ratio is all wrong.

Films that (IMO) could work better without extended cuts:
-Dances with Wolves.
-Police Story 2 (although I like the added scenes).
-Terminator 2.
-Underworld.
-The Two Towers.
Bollocks, the SE of T2 is so much better than the TC IMO :D I like the extra character development that goes with the action, even if the TC is faster paced.
The EE's of LOTR are vastly superior to the Theatrical cuts.

Mark I agree about "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" - the scenes in the longer version are redundant.
I also agree about the "DC's" of Lethal Weapon 2 and 3. Those scenes don't add anything.
However, the added scenes in the DC of Part 1 make it a noticeably better film IMO.

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly:

I've not seen either cut for me I doubt I'll be checking out the theatrical cut any time soon considering the DVD is clearly much inferior AV wise to the Extended Cut.

Making it in some ways a moot point.

LEON Region 1 New 2 dvd version is shit man, you watched a different dvd to everyone else then, the constant yellow frame burning after "EVERY SINGLE SHOT" is a total and utter joke its completly ruins the film. I have seen shit better than this dvd, its vile. Distracting yellow piss stains on every shot isnt even close to a good dvd, its one massive fuck up. If your blind you may not notice mind you, problems like this on ANY dvd are bad, but for a film where its a fact better transfers are out there makes it even worse.

Waterworld extended cut is a better film, it really adds a lot to the film, esspecialy sub plots and fun :)
