I wish that that Dragon's Den reviewer had actually given a proper review of the DVD in the first place.

Presumably the part of the opening credits which lists the title of the film.

Title card = 'SNUFF BOTTLE CONNECTION' that comes up during the credits which were also replaced.

New yellow video generated text has been super-imposed on top of the initial red German ones.

The original set existed on the R1 GZ DVD but it's in a disgusting condition and it seems impossible to fix.

just watched this, great old-skooler 8) the print has a lot of scratches & splices but it's only extremely scratchy in 2 or 3 places for a few seconds, the transfer itself is clean & colourful. for a comparision check the movie out against the quality of the original trailer :? plenty of trailers on the disc, and a coming soon title is a 2-disc release of Trinity Goes East.

So, are the subtitles player-generated or burnt-in?

The DVD might be crap, but SBC is an absolutely awesome film.

If I were into old school kung fu flicks (I'll give them a try at some point - I bought R1 SITES recently, which I've yet to watch.), I'd buy this once it became cheap. It's prolly the best release we're likely to see for a long time, if ever.

It doesn't seem like a bad release, given the rarity of the film. That review I posted is very ignorant, especially in the suggestion that the film should be sold to HKL. Um, HKL sold the film to Soul Blade - and besides, HKL is not that good. Police Story 2 anyone?

It's worth mentoning that one of the reasons HKL sold the rights to Soulblade was because the print they were given was too damaged to match the standard of their other releases. Souldblade themselves had to source yet another print to use - it's German - and the one that is on the DVD whilst not remastered is apparently better than the - Chinese - one HKL had.

I'll just lol at that comment. Not necessary to continue discussing the pros and cons of HKL as we've had it so often.

"Duel to the Death" anyone? :D

You able to provide a few captures?

How's the subtitles? Do they subtitle any English dialogue (like SBC - which shouldn't happen)?

Are the extras in 4:3 or 16:9?
