Deep Sea 3D (4 out of 5)

I almost forgot, I did watch this today at the IMAX theatre! http://www.imax.com/deepsea/

The sea turtles were amazing, especially with the narration done by Johnny Depp :love7: (oh, and Kate Winslett, too

). Excellent effects, educational and entertaining.

hey,

and it's also a little touching. Very crowded film that shouldn't work but it's in the tradition of golden oldies of HK cinema from the 80s/early 90s. Only difference is no action and a focus to actually make shit work. However contrasting it may be.

It's a good chance this movie for people to appreciate the other talents of Alan Mak so seek this one out and X-Mas Rave Fever. Then again, you all might think this is shit so...

Death Shadows – 4,5/5
Four and half out of five, that’s exactly how much I enjoyed watching this film with no subtitles. This is got to be the most colourful samurai movie ever made. We’re talking about Norifumi Suzuki kind of visual orgy here. Filled with stunning images, inventive fight scenes and beautiful, sword wielding women Death Shadows remains extremely entertaining from start to finish, even if you can’t understand a word.

I watched the first few episodes of the first season when they were aired in this country, but never really got into it. Couldn't quite get the tone it was aiming for; black comedy or serious drama, and as it happened I didn't think it did either well.
But that was a few years back now

Perhaps like you should re-evaluate Father Ted, I might have to re-evaluate this

Nobody Knows (Japan, 2005) - 5/5
Absolutely astonishing film. One of the best, and also saddest films i've watched in quite a while. Unbelieveably well written, directed, and acted. Brutally realistic.

I'll never forget this one.

wow caught this on tv...based on the novel by Virginia Andrews its really a good movie, a little bad acting at times but still good, and man the grandmother is superbitch!
i never read the book, but maybe i should lol, if the movie is good, then usually the book is alot better. but anyway yeah cool movie

Yeah, Nobody Knows is quite a good, and sad, film. I boo-hooed big time over the "suitcase" scene.

As for Six Feet Under, it's very hard to compare it to The Sopranos. I'm not sure there's any TV better than the first couple of seasons of The Sopranos, imo. Six Feet Under is pure drama, with some Aly McBeal-type moments and dream sequences thrown in at times. The first two seasons are superb. The third and fourth seasons were just okay, and the fifth season brings everything full circle. You get really frustrated and mad at the characters and their actions (and inaction) at times, wishing they'd be the next ones to get embalmed.

But if you like drama and excellent characters (however frustrating that may get at times), then you should like Six Feet Under. You should ask EvaUnit2's opinion of it to get a guy's perspective. I'm fairly certain he's seen it, as he used a screengrab of Claire driving the old green hearse for DVD Mystery quite some time ago.

Ace it's another TV series for me to check out. Already well into Sopranos (although not seen the latest season), Smallville, Lost, Desperate Housewives and 24 (again not seen the latest season).

Desperate Housewives Season 2 4/5

Decent followup with some interesting commentaries on morals and suburban culture.

However it was weaker than the first season. I didn't like:

Mary-Alice's opening and closing monologues. She's not an important character anymore and her family aren't the focus of attention. I hope the writers forget them for the next season, as that chapter is well and truly closed IMO.

The new neighbours' scandal wasn't that great.

Be interesting to see what the next season has in store.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang 3/5

It's full of many great quirkily, memorable moments, but I was a little bit let down after reading so many glowing reviews If I am honest. I've always liked Val Kilmer since Willow, Top Gun and Real Genius, and it's great to see him back performing in some decent movies (Spartan being the other recent movie I enjoyed starring Val). I loved the pissing scene, and also Robert Downey acting (convincingly) macho, only to promptly get his arse kicked into oblivion.

Love that! Still, I feel there's something stopping it from being a truly, great film, even though I can easily recall many wonderous (sp?) scenes and snippets of dialogue.

Hide and Seek 3/5

I know this has had an awful lot of bad press, but I really enjoyed it. It may not have the best twist in the world, but I enjoyed the ride and creepy atmosphere building towards the finale. De Niro is still coasting. He hasn't been in a "proper" film since the mid 90s (Heat and Casino).

12 Angry Men - 4/5

I decided I had to watch this again with my own Jury service starting tomorrow. Fonda and Cobb are great in this, and plenty of to-ing and fro-ing goes on. You really are in there with them for the ride and Lumet's pacing is great.

wow a stephen chow movie i liked, but dammit why ae his movies so slow in moving the story along? this si the thing i found with every movie of his i watched so far, he drags it out too damn much.

had some good humour in it, and the plot wasnt half bad, and no really annoying characters.

Not sure why so many people claim this is the greatest film of all time. I personally don't think it comes close although it was quite a nice film to watch, if a little tedious. Good little mystery and nicely concluded in the end.

Really like this

Good end to the series, I like how we see something that can finally harm/scare Ogami..

There's a piece of classical music in the score that I can't place - what is it? Sounds like Beethoven or something.

Very pleased with the Thai set. No liner notes like the R1 but seems the same AV wise and great price.

Great! I love Kitano´s humour and the way he portrays Zatoichi. I really enjoyed watching it, although it can´t compete with some other of his films I´ve seen...

Woyzeck

I read Georg Büchner´s novel for 3 or 4 times and now wanted to check out the film, by Werner Herzog.
Klaus Kinski´s performance as Woyzeck is outstanding.
But there was one scene, where some guy hits a monkey on its head. Poor monkey

. That scene was good for nothing!

That´s why I "just" give
