I like original poster art but not worth rebuying a BD for.

Different if you don't already own.

Started watching Indiana Jones on Blu-Ray

The Raiders 'restoration' is horrible sadly. Image is flat, over bright & contrast boosted, and cast in a ridiculous blue/orange palette. What a waste. Found it very hard to enjoy.

Yeah I'd heard about the colours, apparently there's no red at all in the film.

Can't say I noticed any flaws with the image. But then I wasn't looking... or comparing with what came before.

I wish they'd included the original stereo tracks... remixes always lack oomph on my headphones.

EDIT: OK, so they've gone down the orange 'n' teal route, but the increase in detail and sharpness is really something.

Some detail (like on faces) look amazing. The problem, apart from the tint for me is that the whites are very gray. So subtle depth and texture are faded out. It's hard to explain, maybe ill post some shots later.

Anyway combined with the unnatural colour pallete it's that bad I'm buying Raiders on DVD again. Is the stand alone R2 release ok?

Regarding no reds, If you've seen it the famous 'map lines' that track Indy when he's travelling across the globe are pink, and the blood on the windscreen of the Truck carrying the Ark is magenta!! I mean its just silly

I couldn't go back to DVD but AFAIK the R2 is fine.

The Little Mermaid Diamond Edition BD - September 13:

I love the simplicity and beauty of that cover and hope they stay with that design.

Scream Factory just posted this on Facebook: 'Tonight we start the new HD transfer of THE FOG, supervised by the great cinematographer, Dean Cundey!'

So presumably it won't have the shortcomings that their They Live transfer had.

Scream Factory sound excellent on paper. Hopefully people support their 'good' releases and boycott the 'bad' ones

An interesting array of titles, though I already have the only one I'd actually buy (Blow Out). And I can't see it being better than the Criterion edition, especially given Arrow's hit and miss quality control. I emailed them about the audio fuck-up on Dawn of the Dead (no mono) and they never replied. Funny that.

Is the PCM Stereo on Dawn not just the same?

Has anyone seen the new editions of Die Hards 1 & 2 coming on BD?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hard-2-Disc-Bon ... 675&sr=8-4

Was thinking of picking up the 3rd one too but is this the 'most complete' version? (I know all known versions have been pre cut for some reason).

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Die-Hard-Vengea ... 157&sr=8-6

Thanks :D

If you're talking about the cuts made for an R-rating, they apply to all extant versions.

Looks like they could be the same old transfers but each bundled with the '5th disc' from the new Quadrilogy set.

Yet to be confirmed though
