Well i go back to work tomorrow after just on a month off sick,am going back for 4 hours a day to see how i get on. works doctor thinks it might help me and apparently work are looking into paying for me to see a specialist. i'm not right, achey and stiff,depressed and have lost weight (i need to anyway,i'm a big guy)and i've lost interest in everything,haven't watched a film for weeks,lost interest in football etc.i'm hoping getting back to work might help me in some way.

Make sure that you don't get MORE depressed while at work. I know you're pretty deep in a shithole right now, so just make sure you at least have a small ladder ready to climb up a bit when you need to.

They're trying to get me to do some 'work', just to get me more out of the house on the days that I'm feeling OK (physically), but I'm affraid that the work that they offered me will work against me.
It is DTP, but pretty simple stuff, no deadlines, can come and go when I want to, but whenever I have to do stuff that isn't creative or challenging my mind just takes over and I can head back into a depression.

I'm still KINDA considering it, cause I wanna do something, but I'm just affraid of what will happen when those feelings return. Kinda hard to explain, and probably even harder to understand for anyone not familiar with those kinda 'feelings'.
It's even hard for me to understand the shit that's going on in my head at times.

I know, but I was told there would be creative assignments, but also assignments where it's just ctrl-A (select all), ctrl-C (copy all), ctrl-V (paste all), for clients who just want their text placed in a book, so that's a bunch of hours just pressing the same old buttons all the time, which is about as creative as standing in a factory placing boxes on a 'thingy' for hours on end... and somehow my brain will go crazy whenever I do stuff like that.

I know how you feel Salty, im in a bit of the same situation myself, i've been really ill over the last months, im in constant pain, but i know what causes mine, i take tramadol too, had too after my spine dislocated. The doctors dont want to know really my condition is incurable and somewhat degenerative so they cant help me and just write me off pretty much. But now i have stomach problems too and have lost like 20kg in 4 months without trying at all, still dont know whats causing it. But Tramadol do suck, the first time i took them i might as well of eaten magic mushrooms, weird but amusing trip. I hope working again will help you get back on track

Blimey Shen i'm really sorry for you

you are so young as well.Tramadol i've tried to stay off,they didn't agree with me at all but they definitely do the job of relieving pain.when you say incurable is there something they can do to improve your situation?or is it a case of doctor's not wanting to know?

Thanks for asking Yi, been in 3 days now,it's been ok but a couple of people have come to me and told me i look awful,which has knocked me a bit.i'm a big bloke and i must have lost a stone in a month. pretty certain my condition is arthritis,i'm better than i was a couple of weeks ago but definitely not right.my work is paying for me to see a specialist privately next Tuesday which i thought was decent of them.taking Naproxen at the moment,supposed to be 3 a day but i've been taking only 2.hate them and i haven't helped myself reading about these things on the internet !

And yeah, researching medicine is usually a pretty frightening thing, when you look at all te side-effects and such.
I don't know much about arthritus, apart from that I really don't wanna have it. It's very decent of your employer to also stand by you and take care of you, especially in these difficult economic times.

Yeah you've got to bear in mind that there's always somebody worse off, I often feel badly done to due to chronic fatigue, but it really could be a lot worse.

The latest thing I've bought for it is Korean ginseng, but after taking it for a couple of days, I decided to leave it till I've finished taking turmeric, because I don't want them interacting or anything.

Same here. I don't even take paracetemol for headaches. I do take supplements at times, though.

And yeah, ofcourse there are always people worse off. There are days where I feel like crap because of the situation I'm in, but when you think about all those people that have it even MUCH worse than me, you immediately feel like such a 'whiner'.

Also, and that's the problem with the depression-side of it: when you do have good days and you feel good and are smiling and people talk to you and all that, they also assume there is no depression.
Apparently, when you have a depression, you aren't allowed to enjoy yourself.
