b) Not giving the ball back to the Dutch player to take a free kick. It wasnt just picking up the ball :)
Actually: Deco's first yellow was for kicking down John Heitinga when he didnt give back the ball to the portuguese.
The 2nd yellow was when he didnt give the ball back and Cocu threw him to the ground.

Both deserved yellow cards.

And Heitinga's explanation for not giving the ball back: I had it with them! Theyw ere constantly time-wasting and if I would have given it back it would have been another 3 minutes orso before we could carry on playing football. I was fed up with it.

I actually agree with him.

I quite enjoyed the Germany Argentina match (2nd half onwards).

Pity, I would've liked to see Argentina go through but I reckon Germany will win the tournament....

I missed the end of the match, though I managed to watch the second half at work. What happened?

Germany through to the semi-finals...

Good for them - bad for football.

Damn, now that Argentina is out... I don´t care who wins this tournament anymore, as long as Germany doesn´t win! :D

According to the BBC one of the Argentinian subs (he wasn't even playing) kicked a German player in the balls. Anarchy ensued. FIFA have secured the tapes.

Predictions for today, English dudes?

2-1 England, Rooney, Gerrard. :)

I liked Linerker's quip at the start of MOTD as everyone was coming into the ground or something - "There's young Theo, with his satchel" :D

Unlucky, guys.

England deserved to win overall, but the penalty curse struck again.

Blame Sven for his shite tactics, blame Rooney for getting himself sent off.

Well, we'll have to see how McLaren fares when his stint begins.
Hopefully, Gerrard will become captain under his management. He can clearly lead a team to victory almost singlehandedly.

As Shearer said in the post-match analysis, whether or not Rooney staying on would've made a difference, I'm not sure. After he got sent off, England gathered themselves and played pretty decently. But before that, it was different.
Sven, however, fucked up royally.

I hope Brazil tonk Portugal in the semis. Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself: if Brazil beat France, I hope that they tonk Portugal in the semis :)

Gutted :(
Agree that Rooney was an idiot, he only has himself to blame for getting sent off. He could of made a difference.
However, I'm not sure it was intentional :?
BUT I think that England played very well under the circumstances with 10 men, in fact for most of that time England looked more likely to score than Portugal. As Mark said we were unlucky IMO and deserved to win. If Portugal were so good they should of trounced us with the extra guy, why did it go to extra time AND penalties?
Why did Sven take Lennon off? :?
You have to admit the penalties we had were poor though (getting Lampard to take Englands first was cruel) BUT Ricardo is a great keeper also.
Félicitations, France (sp?)

Zidane has always been one of my favourite players, and tonight he showed why. All the usual clichés apply: dominant in midfield, silky-smooth skills etc. etc.
Great performance, and I'll now revise: I hope France tonk the Portugese come the semi-finals :D

Oh, and Shen, I'm not taking the bait ;)

I'm glad England is finally out of the tournament, as they've been shite all along. That team has so much potential but they played really worthless.
Same thing goes for Brazil: so much potential but they never showed it, so good riddance.

Not that I like Portugal or France... cause I dont. for me, the nicest teams are already sent home, with the exception of Germany, who've been playing very nice attractive football all tournament long.
Others who I'd like to have seen go further were Australia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, South Korea and perhaps Spain...
