I spotted a copy of the Backdraft BD in HMV and it's the same content. I wonder why Universal dropped the SE tag in the UK and cheapened the sleeve title font.

yeah that's what my poundland had too, plus the 20 or so copies of 'vengence'.
Also spotted 'loose cannons'(dan ackroyd) and all the 'best of the best films'.
noticed they seem to mainly be stocking 'optimum' released titles,

Popped into Poundland today. Not much of a selection.

Of the titles mentioned they only had these:

Jackie Chan's First strike
Interceptor
Diamond Dogs (Dolph Lundgren)

Only title I saw that hasn't been mentioned is:

Excessive Force (Thomas Ian Griffith)

At least it's uncut, unlike the old VHS.

Because there is no regular BD maybe?

Was there a regular BD released in the US? I wasn't aware of it.

Mind you, Universal (UK) are known for their crappy packaging, so I really shouldn't be surprised.

Anyways, I ordered it.

I don't think so but I was only commenting on the UK BD.

Holey cow Batman! That price is awesome. I've still never seen any of these but these they look so damn good. I've even got The Good, The Bad And The Ugly on DVD SE. I've just ordered this. The price is just too good to pass up. What's wrong with these vs. the German ones? No Mono right? If so, I'm cool with that (especially for the price).

The cheapest elsewhere is £14.99 at Amazon. In itself much cheaper than elsewhere.

As far as i know Fistful is slightly cropped,Dollars More is missing a scene (i think that's a worldwide issue with the exception of the german dvd) and GBU is the extended version only.Best version of Fistful is the italian BD i have but it's stupidly expensive.Dollars More i have the hk release (which is the same disc as this set i think) and GBU i have the usa release.(same disc as this set) At £3.33 a film this is a no-brainer despite the flaws.these are a superb, epic trilogy of films.

I want that set, but the wax look of part 2 (or whichever film it was haha) is insanely bad. That and hideous edge enhancement and halos :( gits!

Still as you say 3.33 a film I can burn the shit transfer one.

part two is fine. It's GBU that has the waxy look.but it's nowhere near as bad as the screenshots suggest.

The extended cut of TGTBATU doesn't have a genuine mono track since the audio was only created a few years ago for the DVD Sp. Ed (back in 1966 dialogue was never recorded in English for the extra scenes). Only the Theatrical Cut has proper mono and that version's not on the BD. No interest for me. I would stick with the R1 vanilla DVD, but that's just my personal taste.

Thanks guys. Like Salty says, "for the price" it's a no brainer but at full price I'd be annoyed. Is there a link showing how bad "The The Good, The Bad And The Ugly" looks?

So it's not as bad as Predator?

The images I saw, I would say as bad. But as I have never seen the actual disc, so hard to say :D but many of the caps were pretty painful to look at. I guess if you sit far back from your screen it wouldnt bother you that much anyway :D

Any links thanks?

Given that the box set is so cheap, I'm willing to risk it. Play have shipped mine btw, so they are honouring it.

Fucking hell the avs forums where members literally commit mass suicide over a less than perfect transfer.i have the disc romero but admittedly i'm nowhere near as anal as you when it comes to quality.i'm usually happy if it improves on the dvd so shoot me.

Thanks guys.

It's well established I lean more towards Salty's thinking here than Romero's. It looks nowhere near as bad as Predator 2 (especially when the original barebones BD isn't all that bad). It looks perfectly acceptable (if clearly tinkered with) to me. I'm usually happy if it improves on the DVD too (as Gladiator original BD did).
