No, I'm just gobsmacked by it. Pretty mellow episode for the most part (although with a few twists and turns, though Sawyer and Ana Lucia know about that) and it ends... like that!

What dreams may come 3.5/5

good film, but a little confusing in some parts. there were sooooo many possibilities that could be done to play this better. but i did enjoy it, the whole idea of life after death and stuff, is something pretty interesting, i like robin williams, and he played a good part, but not his best it seemed. it was a good watch of course, just seems that it could be better

Which episode do you mean? I thought the opening double bill on C4 was great, it sure had its share of WTF moments and was really gripping.
How did that guy get down the hatch and how come he has a shower, gym, records etc? :?

Grim: (I've only seen the first two episodes too, so I won't be spoiling anything for you, hehe) I noticed a logo on all of the boxes of food in the store room, and he put on a boiler suit type thing which I also think had the logo on but I'm not sure. I'd say that he's been sent down there by some company who made the hatch, and it appears to be his job to keep resetting that timer, and to wait for 'him'.

Didnt he keep saying "Are you 'him'" to Locke? Also did you notice the "numbers" in other places apart from when they were typed on the PC?

Yeah he did say that to Locke. And when he said to him, 'what does one snowman say to another snowman?' and Locke didn't know the answer to the secret question, he knew that it wasn't 'him'. Well I know that the numbers are on the hatch itself of course, but I don't recall noticing them inside the hatch.

"Its been nice snowing you"? I dont know lol :D
Weren't the numbers on some of the tins of food, or the thing Desmond injects himself with? I'm sure I noticed them in a few places when Kate was in the storeroom

American Dreamz 2.5/5

The film was very OK. It did have bursts of comic genius but was horribly mundane at other times. By far, Weitz's weakest effort.

I was talking about what has occurred in the newest episode of Lost in the States. Unfortunately, I am rather impatient and can't wait for Channel 4 to catch up for my fix. :D

:D Fair enough, I'm going to try and watch more on C4 this time, still the R1 set of S2 will be a deginite purchase for me.

Fearless 2.5/5

Enjoyable but I think I'll stick to my OUATIC's.

The Promise - 4/5
Great film. Great visuals. Would have been 5/5 if some of the special effects didn't look so dull and fake and if Jang Dong-gun had done a better acting performance. He is such a great actor I was really shocked to see him performing so badly. Maybe due to the language barrier?

Bruce which DVD did you watch? Maybe the low mark was due (partly) to the lack of subs? (Though I dont know how good your Cantonese/Thai is) ;)

Romeo Must Die 3/5

Aye, certainly not bad but suffers from major pacing issues. Probably Andrzej Bartkowiak's strongest film (I've not seen Exit Wounds) but I don't think I'll be seeing any more of his stuff like. I'd rather chew my own vomit than watch Doom or Cradle again.

Cantonese is Bruce's joint first language, his parents barely speak English. His Mandarin is a "bit" ropey though.

I don't think Fearless has any Thai, does it?
Shen wrote:no in all seriousness i really didnt see the reason she was there, ok she was the servant, and he "used" her etc. utter devotion yada yada yada....
What you've just said was her purpose, she was Tony's servant.

It depends Brad, if Bruce got the Thai DVD (which he may have done?) isnt it dubbed into Thai?
Most likely you're right, he got the HK DVD though.

Josee, the Tiger and the Fish 4/5 (Japan, 2003)

This is the first time I've been exposed to a Isshin Inudou film, who has actually written and directed a good number of movies in recent years. This 2003 title is a somber romantic drama between Tsuneo and Josee. The two are initially at opposite ends of the spectrum. Tsuneo is a typically handsome college boy, who despite appearing shallow, is actually a very pleasant and caring person. Josee on the other hand is partially paralysed and is restricted in her daily activities. Despite her disability, she is still very intelligent, as she reads a lot of textbooks thrown out by students. Tsueno is drawn to her charm and sarcasm, regardless of her tempermental attitude. Both are vulnerable characters who ultimately need each other.

Inudou has delivered a warm story that sways away from Japanese melodramatic stereotypes. In fact, the film is so authentic that the cold ending is likely to catch the viewer off guard. The truth is that like everything on this planet, love is unpredictable and can change at any time. I admire the clever choice of title and how it fits in with the film's symbolic subtexts. Fantastic performances from a star-studded cast, especially the two leads who displayed immense charm and wit. I have the Korean 3 disc LE, which is beautifully packaged and comes with a notepad.

Ballade von Cable Hogue - 4/5
Would have been 5/5 if the middle part of the film with the love theme wasn't that long. Otherwsise a first class Peckinpah classic, though.

MI: III

I saw it yesterday and I thought it was [Alan Hansen]absoolooly fantaaastic[/alan hansen]. Probably better than the first and second. Hoffman was actually very good as the baddie. Much better than the smug Dougray Scott in MI2. Two hours flew by.

4/5

Edko. No, I could understand everything, but the film is nothing special IMO. Many of his other period films are much superior. It looks very lavish, with high production values but I've seen better action.
