The same reason that there's normally a thousand different subtitle options on most R2 DVDs. Universal own the global rights (non-Asian) to the film, naturally they'll want to sell the same disc across Europe.

Good spot Eva I'd missed the HOH subs. I was going to buy this but probably will not now.

I'll wait to see the R1 and R4 at least, which I'm also guessing will be bare-bones but hopefully standard subs. Universal have really kicked themselves in the teeth by not also including English subs.

I presume that was a question and not a statement? No AFAIK it's the same cut with only the Thai version currently being longer.

You shouldn't hold your breath. Remember the HOFD R4 from Universal - HOH captions only.

Yeah the R4 is a non-anamorphic disaster.

We've been over this in the past Brad. The HOFD R4 IS ANAMORPHIC, just that the Rewind entry is badly formatted. You have such a terrible memory.

I dont want to read subs saying shit like

"You Killed My Brotherrrrrrrrr"
(Sound effect of Jet Smacking bad guy in face, sound like chicken slapping on a big womans boobs)

It is indeed annoying. I have the UK R2 of Downfall which only offers English HOH subs and it is indeed annoying.

The R1 has proper subs but no DTS, considerably less extras and burnt in English subs. I made an exception in this.

A barebones release, the film is presented in 2.40:1 Anamorphic Widescreen with Mandarin, French and Spanish audio (DD5.1 Surround) and English SDH, French and Spanish subtitle options.
NOOOOOO, barebones. At least it has the original Mandarin audio and not the Catonese dub.

ARGH, ENGLISH HOH CAPTIONS ONLY!

looks like this isn't on my xmas list now...tossers :x

No you're not.
I don't care about HoH stuff.

All you gotta do is ignore the [ ] 's.

*Goes to Play.com*

Wow ! French subtitles ?!

*Clicks on "Buy"*

:D
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Quick question - what's the film's original audio? Mandarin or Cantonese?

I don't hate them but we frankly we shouldn't have to compromise. I reckon a DVD with normal subs will come hence I'm waiting.
