Yeah, when it comes to cuts DVD Times' reviews are next to useless.

Thankfully the BBFC confirmed it early on.

Hey,

I saw the Bond UE's today in HMV. The shop price (£13.99) seems quite favourable when you consider online prices (not much cheaper).
I checked on no original tracks on any of the early films - only 5.1/DTS.
Goldemeye says "Uncut" on the cover, strangely Tomorrow Never Dies and Licence To Kill (LTK really is uncut) don't.

There was a label covering up the uncut part in my HMV though.
It shouldn't say uncut when it probably isn't

The Jaws remix is awesome it really adds extra depth. The Terminator one is an improvement too but not perfect.

The first 3 Brosnan Bonds are up at DVD Times. I won't be bothering now until they're under a tenner. I upgraded Terminator as it was only 1 DVD but I need to mess around upgrading 3 this time.

The AV is virtually the same (worse in the case of TND) and the new extras look rubbish. It does bring a dilemma if I upgrade GE and TWINE but not TND as I upgrade all or nothing. Having a mismatch is a big no no IMO (i.e - for these 3).

Cheapestn so far then, if you know someone with a staff discount card then its a further 10% off, works out about £10ish each, and club card points

I haven't bought T1 yet - is the sound very bad? - and I bought the mono German releases of the Dollars films. I bought the mono Duel the second I heard the R2 removes the dinosaur roar at the end

I only bought the R2 because it was on sale and I didn't realise the film was originally mono. Had no idea they still did mono films in 1984 especially from that genre? It helped that I couldn't remember the audio from the VHS - unlike the Bonds, which I know how they're supposed to sound. There's be a suggestion at Zeta Minor that the 60's Bond remixes for the UEs have added foley. MLAM??

I can't say yet as I aint watched anything Pre 1983 yet

I'll watch them in time but im fairly sure if new foleys will be fairly obvious as a 60s film with modern FX will not sit right

That's been OOP for ages. You want:

R3 2 Disc SE (CD WOW sell it I think) - If you want Mono
UK R2 UE 2 Disc - If you want DTS

Extras and Picture Quality are pretty much the same. The UE is minutely sharper but you have to be really looking and the new UE extras add very little.

Eva picked up the R3 recently which is identical to the R1 but is 2 discs instead of 1 dual sided DVD.

Don't care about DTS. How come the R3 SE has mono but not the R2?

Because Sony / MGM never include the original mono track on R2 releases when they have created a new 5.1 mix.

T1 was a low budget independent film made with a budget of only $6,000,000 (it's just a really well made B-picture in reality). They couldn't afford a stereo mix (Cameron said on an Easter egg of the DVD).

Hmm... after checking out some reviews of The Terminator it seems as though the best version A/V wise is actually the old bare-bones Image R1 DVD. Only caveat is that it's non-anamorphic which means zooming in on my TV so that the transfer superiority will be lost in resolution. Damn. Also it's said that the mono soundtrack is stronger than the MGM equivilent, never mind the 5.1 remix. I hate which this shit happens... don't you?
