It is true. I could list loads of dvds produced from found home prints, but would you beleve me?bradavon wrote:No your point was and is in black & white:

Not true. But yes agreed about the reasons for not Remastering.
I personally dont even know why I am talking about Lucas at all, he is a dick and we all knew it from the start.

Yes, his company TLEfilm did the German AFOD/FAFDM SE's, as well as the remasters that Eureka used for Metropolis & M (Criterion did their own remaster, which is slightly inferior to this one).grim_tales wrote:I think he did the German Leone SE's as well?

But they are progressive, just not flagged for it - so there'll be some playback problems on PC DVD playing software and some projectors. Perfectly fine on your normal TV, they play without a hitch in 576p on my TV.Ivan Drago wrote:The German Leones are not encoded for progressive playback but they look very nice otherwise and are worth it for the mono tracks

I guess the sad thing is its a win-win situation for Lucas, if we don't buy his substandard O-OT Lucas will say "I told you so - my 2004 SE's are better" and if we do buy it and its a hit, he has no incentive to release it again (if ever) to make it better.
In the original marketing blurb, the O-OT was definitely the USP of this release, and now they are just "bonuses"

If they aren't flagged, then does that make them interlaced - or non-progressive then?EvaUnit02 wrote:But they are progressive, just not flagged for it - so there'll be some playback problems on PC DVD playing software and some projectors. Unique Selling Point, initially these were being sold with the OOT as the main attraction of the releases.
I dont want a substandard product and yet the originals may never be available again. Bah.
I'm sure its not Eva, I think that joke came from when the 2001 (?) UK census came out, that if enough people put "Jedi" where it said "Religion" then Jedi would become an official religion, or something.
