Agreed on the script front but that doesn't suddenly make Ratner a decent director.

I like Red Dragon but come on there's nothing much wrong with the script, it's all Ratner's lame directing on that one. Agreed he can direct but well, that's debatable. I'd say average and functional.

A decent script is crucial but I've seen loads of films that have bad scripts but are easily saved by decent acting, directing etc . . . Your statement is bollocks.

Agreed a decent script is crucial but come one Ratner has been given a good script before and still managed to make it so average. I like Red Dragon but considering the script it should've been so much better.

There is nothing particularly wrong with most of Ratner's films but there is nothing particularly special either, no artistic talent at all. Sure he can direct but well please.

As for Rush Hour 3: Poor, Poor, Poor.

You guys know I'm no fan of a lot of the so called Jackie classics but oh my god this film was poor. For an action comedy it must have decent action and funny comedy.

The action was dreadful for the most part to passable at best, Jackie wasn't even trying, the comedy faired a little better as I did laugh at Chris Tucker sometimes but overall the jokes were so lame. It looks like I wasn't joking about Tucker eating all the pies, man he's put on some weight from the last two instalments.

At least Rush Hour 1-2 had a perfectly acceptable story but the story here oh my god what were they thinking? It wasn't even a finish script as far as I was concerned, it was a first draft they couldn't be bothered to go and re-write.

Rush Hour 3 started off well. I did find Tucker dancing like Michael Jackson funny (and a few other Tucker gags) but otherwise what on earth were they thinking, this is not acceptable cinema.

And don't even get me started on Roman Polanski's French accent, needless to say it wasn't in the slightest bit French. Maybe that's how American's (or Ratner) thinks the French sound? Since when did French speak English? Whenever I've been to France they've flatly refused to ever speak it.

Oh and the finale was almost exactly the same as the one they did in Rush Hour, grrr.

Why on earth did Jackie's adopted brother have to be Japanese? I guess so they can throw in another Asian language for the fun of it.

My recommendation: Turn up at the 90 minute point and watch the outtakes as they're the best bits in the whole film, and they run during the credits.

Ratner has definitely milked the cow one step too far. The problem with films like this and Shrek 3 is that you cannot even say it was a disaster but that they're just so mediocre.

4 out of 10. I'm probably being too kind.

According to Wikipedia (assuming it's true) it was rape but was later reduced to "engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor".

As well as China Town The Pianist is also outstanding.

There are many stories of young black men who were 18 and had a 15-16 year old girlfriend, parents of the white girl dont like it, and bring the 18 year old kid to justice, thus sending him to jail...

You cant, so you should always listen to the case itself, and the persons who are involved... and not just look at the numbers and go:' ow... she's 15, he's 18+, this is WRONG!!!'. It's not.

Also, it's funny how women always say girls are always so much more mature than men at that age (13, 14-15 etc), but when it comes to this issue, suddenly it's a case of little girls who have been taken advantage off...

I feel even children should have brains to know what is right and wrong. Its also a case of the parents responsibilty to raise their kids with morals etc. When I was 13-14 there were already a bunch of girls who were at least ready for sex, and some who were already doing it, and usually with guys older than they were...

We should stop pretending girls of 14-15 are innocent lil girls. It differs from girl to girl, obviously, but most are already in a phase where they want boys and love and sex etc...
Obviously, it would be best if they went through that phase with boys their own age, but a 18 or 19 year old boy witha 14-15 year old girl, really isnt that big a deal. Not to me, anyway.

It's weird that we make a huge deal about teens having sex with young adults, yet whenever a 40-50 year old guy fucks a 18-19 year old bimbo, it's suddenly okay...

It is btw, cause if a bimbo wants to whore herself around like that, that's her choice. Just dont ask me to have any respect for her.

Personally, I want someone who is at least close to my own age. I cant imagine now being with a girl who's 20 or younger. Although I guess there are 20 year old girls out there who ARE 'mature' and my type.

Maybe when I'm 40 and having my midlife crisis, I'll be cruising for young chicks. But now I just cant imagine it.

About sicko Polanski I think some people need to acctually read the "FACTS" its not a simple case of an old man getting with a nice young lady and thats that.

If you acctually looked for the facts you would find out its far, far more sick than you can imagine.

But I am sure finding such info is beyond most people (took me very little time!). I Read the official court reports from the goverment site, they tell it all. Otherwise dont comment on it and say I am telling fibs or expanding the info. Even I felt ill after reading the details of the case, Polanski should be in jail and brutally raped every day of his life I say.

Do you think he simpley ran from the country for having underage sex, yea right he knew he had done far worse than that and he was gonna be in jail for a long time when convicted, the evidence and all that was ready to lock him away. Then he fled and is still innoncent in most peoples eyes, including the idiots who work with him and still respect him. Obviously the evidence was all lies.

I admit I don't know the details so I'll conceed to Romero for having researched the case. If it was indeed rape (and not statutory rape) then he should've been put in jail. Simple as that. I guess he knew this which is why he fled to Europe.

You could argue that the age of consent should be when a boy can ejaculate or a girl has her period. That's nature's law. But how would you stop adults taking advantage of that? Is it possible for an adult to have sex with an underage person and for it to be acceptable?
